Monster Cable hosted its 2011 Monster Retailer Awards Show at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, on the 7th of January 2011.

The award show was followed by the 40th anniversary party/concert of Earth, Wind & Fire with an opening act by the South Korean pop group, Wonder Girls.

Later that night, Earth, Wind & Fire were joined on stage by Sheila E of Prince fame, Maurice White the singer/song writer and founder of Earth, Wind & Fire, Grammy award winner Deniece Williams and, to top it all off, legendary Mr. Stevie Wonder!

[News] Sungmin “3rd Most Anticipated Acting Idol”

The community portal site "DC Inside" conducted a survey on the subject "Who is the most anticpated 'Acting Idol' in dramas of 2011?" from December 28, 2010 to January 4, 2011.

Super Junior's Sungmin received 1385 of the total 6112 votes (22.7%) to come in 3rd after Dong Bang Shin Ki's U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin. Currently acting in the KBS2TV Wed-Thu drama "President", Sungmin accumlated his acting experience as child actor to Kim Chanwoo in the drama "Sisters Of The Sea" before his debut.

Sungmin, whose acting activities centered mainly on musicals after his debut, has received favourable reviews for his role as a character with the same name, Jang Sungmin, in "President".

Rain says he plans to join the army.

In MBC TV's entertainment news program 'Section TV' aried on January 9th, the site of Rain's concert rehearsal was opened to the public, and he said about his joining the army there.

Rain said, "I'll fulfill military in 2011, and I plan to release my new album in the middle of this year", which attracted attention.

The united Group GD and TOP appeared in Gorilleras Date on 8th and how they ranked their look in their group has attracted attention.

After being filmed on the street outside Hongik University, GD and TOP was being interviewed.

In the past, when Taeyang appeared in the same programme, he said he ranked 3rd in terms of good looking of his team so this time, GD and TOP had to face the same question too.

GD said he ranked himself the 4th place and how about the 5th? 'I will leave the 5th place to you' Therefore, who he thought ranked 5th was not disclosed.

[NEWS] Taeyang in the US for 2 weeks + hanging out with Teddy and Aimee

On January 9th, YG Entertainment told OSEN:
"On the 8th, Big Bang's Taeyang left for America through Incheon Airport. He will be staying there for around two weeks."
With Big Bang's comeback scheduled for February, why did Taeyang suddenly take a trip to America?
"It wasn't a personal reason, but it was for him to receive dance lessons. In order to show an upgraded performance, he went to meet with famous choreographers.
The members are having a short rest before their upcoming album release, but Taeyang volunteered to receive dancing lessons instead. His eagerness is outstanding."
With the increasing anticipation from fans and music industry associates alike, it was reported that the members are throwing in as much passion and dedication as they can into their album preparations. G-Dragon told OSEN in a recent interview:
"As much as the fans have been waiting, we will come out with a lot prepared and give them great songs. We'll completely fill the album with good songs and show songs that express our various tastes and personalities."
T.O.P also expressed:
"Aren't people saying that these days, the popular music industry is a generation of three week albums? No matter how much effort you put in, if it passes three weeks, there is no opportunity left to show what you have to your fans. Big Bang will surpass those boundaries and will satisfy everyone's anticipation by going all-in on our album production."

According to an undisclosed industry-related source on January 9th, Intel is expected to announce SNSD as their Asian CF models soon.

Although the agreement as well as terms between the two parties are unknown, it is believed that Intel is including SNSD as the substantial and significant part of their promotion and advertising plan in the Asian region.

On January 5th, Intel unveiled its latest processor called 'Sandy Bridge' at the 'CES 2011′ in Las Vegas and they are preparing for a large-scale marketing exercise. SNSD are expected to be announced as the main model of the promotional activities.

The advertising contract between Intel and SNSD is seen as a rather unusual and rare 'phenomenon' considering the fact that Intel is largely targeting corporate customers and practices B2B (Business to Business) marketing where celebrities/artistes' involvement in its advertising activities is rare. However, it will be interesting to see how this global marketing strategy could promote not only the product from a world-known international IT corporation but also the Korean culture to the world through one of Asia's most popular girl group, SNSD.

Utilizing SNSD's popularity, Intel plans to maximize its brand loyalty and consumers' interest in their products thus, strengthening their position in the Asian market.

However, when asked about the content of the promotional and advertising plan, Intel refused to disclose any details and replied, "we could not confirm". Intel's agreement with SNSD is expected to be officially announced on January 10th.
