Posted: 07 Jan 2011 12:25 AM PST TOP (Into the Gunfire, IRIS) poses for High Cut in a book-nerd-meets-pop-star kind of way, which is to say, kooky and kind of adorable. The hair is still crazy, but it’s strangely growing on me. When he showed up to the Blue Dragon Awards looking like that, I sort of lost my lunch, but maybe it’s all about styling, as he manages to pull it off with flair here. Posted: 06 Jan 2011 09:25 PM PST Don’t count your chickens before they’ve hatched, but I will concede that My Princess is definitely faster out of the gate. It’s breezy, it’s charming, and…it’s So Purty. But also, I’m surprised by how cute they are. I mean, who knew—stick a Hand Towel in a comedy, and voila…personality! The race tightens even further between Sign, Princess Posted: 06 Jan 2011 03:45 PM PST Yowsa, and I thought the race was tight yesterday, with only 0.2% separating the top two dramas. Thursday’s episode narrowed the gap even further, with Sign just barely hanging onto the lead by 0.1% — it pulled in a 17.7% over My Princess‘s 17.6%. What’s even more impressive is that both dramas rose from their premieres (16.1% and 15.9%, respectively); those numbers would be solid even if their competition were much weaker, but to have TWO dramas approaching 20% at the same time is not all that common. Sadly, those points have to come from somewhere, and KBS’s President dropped to 7.7%. I wonder if Sign and My Princess are cutting into each other’s audiences and could have been even higher without the other rival getting in the way (as I suspect was the case for Dong Yi versus Giant last year, and have always wondered with big-time showdowns like My Girl versus Goong). Or, perhaps with their very different subject matter and tone, the two dramas present the perfect counterprogramming options for each other. In any case, I’m loving My Princess so far, and will have to get back to you after I’ve had a chance to give Sign a good watch. Via E Daily RELATED POSTS

A toast to kick off Chilling Romance Posted: 06 Jan 2011 11:07 AM PST Here’s the first still from the upcoming movie Chilling Romance, which stars Sohn Ye-jin (Into the White Night) as a woman who gains the ability to see ghosts after an accident. Because of her peculiar ability, which she cannot control, her life gets (to say the least) rather complicated. Lee Min-ki (Haeundae) plays a popular illusionist running a horror magic show. He can conjure ghosts, which I suspect is going to be a problem in the whole romance department. Or, yunno, maybe they’re a quirky couple and this is actually a good thing because they’ll be able to team up. Who knows. It IS touted as a “hidden romantic comedy” within the chilling ghost story. The movie is written and directed by Hwang In-ho, who also directed the witty romantic comedy My Two-Faced Girlfriend; this is first project doing double-duty. The film began its first shoots on December 27 in Seoul, and its first scene, pictured above, features Sohn’s character Yeo-ri drinking with Lee’s character Jo-gu. She’s got a good head for liquor, while he’s already pretty drunk as she teaches him how to enjoy soju. Jo-gu has been finding himself curiously preoccupied by this strange woman whose ghost-seeing ability has run interference with her social and dating life, and borrows some liquid courage as he reveals his feelings for the first time. Eee, sounds fascinating and quirky. Right up my alley! The film is planning for a release in the second half of the year. Via OSEN RELATED POSTS
