[NEWS] "Dream High" female fans have "Wooyoung Fever"

The female fans response to 2PM's Wooyoung, who's playing Jason in a popular KBS drama "Dream High", is quite extraordinary.

Jason is a Korean from overseas, who enters Kirin Art School with the highest score. He loves fun and is not only good at singing and dancing. Wooyoung is gaining popularity through flawlessly portrayed manners and personality of the character. As originally it was Wooyoung's acting debut, there was a lot of anticipation and worry, but he received a positive response from his very first appearance, leaving a rather strong impression. Wooyoung especially impressed the female fans in the very first episode, when he delivered his English lines with clean pronunciation, even though he is famous for his Busan origins. Up till now it feels as if he has been the perfect pick to play the character, as if Jason and Wooyoung were made for each other.


Even though he made a strong impressions in the first few episodes his appearances had been quite short. However, on the 7th episode of the drama he showed that he could also play a leading character who pulls the entire action of the story line further. In that episode he appeared together with IU, who's currently rising in popularity among uncle fans, a target group which had been SNSD's stronghold for a very long time. Wooyoung that day performed with a charming appeal strong enough even to put smiles on IU male fans faces. Wooyoung's character is currently slowly building love and friendship with IU's character, who's good at singing, but is overweight and has many complexes about her appearance. Jason is always polite to Pilsuk (the name of IU's character) no matter what. Wooyoung received enthusiastic support from the female viewers of the drama as on the 7th episode Jason forsake the important showcase he was supposed to attend with a celebrity and performed a duet with IU during a fake showcase with the college preparatory class, demonstrating his loyalty and affection.

Due to this "Wooyoung Fever" the amount of his apperance in the drama is increasing although originally he would have only a scene or two in each episode. It's a situation when he's receiving more attention, chasing after the popularity of the original three main characters played by Kim Suhyun, Bae Suji and Ok Taecyeon. As the fans keep on posting comments about Wooyoung and IU on the viewers' board, the number of comments asking to increase Wooyoung's appearance in the drama is rising. There are even fans who upload pictures of self-made Jason Doll.

It seems like the Wooyoung Fever among female fans will only get worse further on when the love-line between Wooyoung and IU (who are called Milky Couple*) starts. There are definitely plans to create a perfect Milky Couple sooner or later, because the preview of IU's character getting slim has already been broadcasted. With the sweet Milky Couple love line in process it is expected that Wooyoung Fever will spread not only among teens, but among the viewers in their 30's and 40's as well.

[News] IU photoshoot with horseback riding, 'Is there anything she can't do?'

Ntreev has revealed photos from the new CF for 'The Story of a Horse and Me, Alicia' starring IU as their spokesmodel.

The filming took place on a ranch in Jejudo, the concept for which IU transformed into a goddess on horseback, and despite the dangers and difficulties of riding a horse, IU shot all the scenes herself.

IU had only a short time to practice riding, but when she successfully completed filming the scenes where she had to race speedily on horseback, she even surprised the horseback riding specialist who was on set at the time.

'Alicia' is new type of gaming called 'action riding' and is aimed at familiarizing people with 'horses' and 'racing.'

[News] Kara's 3 member's conditions revealed

The conditions which 3 members of Kara brought forward, were revealed, and is known to have been delivered to DSP entertainment.

The conditions are, reducing their remaining contract of 3~4 years down to until July of next year. July of next year is when their contract with Japanese Universal ends and at the same time they want the contract with DSP entertainment to end. They are asking 1~2years off their contract.

Also they asked for the current CEO's wife to step down from her position.

However it is revealed that DSP is only going to accept part of the conditions. A representative says "Isn't asking to reduce the contract a bit too much to ask?"

Super Junior's Leeteuk shows his hidden singing skills.

On MBC's 'Sunday Sunday Night - Enjoy Today'(오즐) which was aired on the 23rd of January, a ballad release competition was held. Leeteuk who was in the competition showed off his hidden singing talent and received the highest score of 35.

Before Leeteuk started to sing his song, Wheesung who was one of the judges told about how he saw Leeteuk singing Im Chang Jeong's song and practicing hard in the bathroom.

Unlike the usual sides he has shown on variety shows, he showed a very serious and sincere side of him while singing. He was also stable when hitting the high notes, and after Leeteuk's song finished, starting from composer Kim Hyung Suk he received many compliments such as "It was something more than we expected".

Jo Young Su, Wheesung and other judges complimented him with many positive points such as saying, "He broke away the prejudice about him being an idol singer and sang very well". As a result, the judges gave him a high score of 35, making him the first place amongst the '오즐' members.

On the other hand, after Leeteuk left the room. Judges could not stop complimenting about Leeteuk saying "I was shocked because of how good he was". Actor Hyun Bin and Singer IU were chosen to be the #1 celebrities people would want to bring back home for the Lunar New Year.

The KBS Research Institute of Programming Arts conducted a survey from the 18th to the 20th asking over 13,000 people above the age of 19 the following, "Who is the female/male celebrity you would like to accompany you on your trip back home for the Lunar New Year?", and both Hyun Bin and IU came out at #1.

IU came in 1st with 14.8% of the 6,423 male votes, while Kim Tae Hee came in 2nd with 12.5% of the votes. Following them were Ha Ji Won with 9.4%, Lee Min Jung with 7.4% and Soo Ae with 6.3% of the votes.

On January 25th, the "2011 Korean Music Awards" held a press conference to reveal the nominations for their awards ceremony.

The awards ceremony was created with the intent to treat pop musicians as artists, not as entertainers; consequently, this award focused more on their achievements instead of their sales. There are a total of 25 different categories, and nominations were made by a selection committee.

Their report shows that 2NE1's "Can't Nobody" and f(x)'s "Nu ABO" were nominated for the 'Best Dance & Electronic Song' category. miss A's "Bad Girl Good Girl" was also elected to receive the 'Best Dance & Electronic Song' award, but it also made its way to the 'Song of the Year' category.

[News] Actor Jang Guen Suk to debut as a singer

Actor Jang Geun Seok has portrayed many musicians in dramas like Beethoven's Virus andYou're Beautiful and has released numerous OST songs.
With the success of his music through dramas, he announced that he will be debuting as a singer through Pony Canyon in Japan.
His official website says that he will be holding his first showcase on March 27th and his solo album will be released on March 23rd, 2011.
His solo album will be packaged in two different formats including a DVD + CD package that includes the making of the jacket shoot and the CD will come with trading cards.

From the result released on January 25th, Taeyeon's 'I Love You' which is the OST for 'Athena:Goddess of War' topped the '2011 Sportschosun Musician Power Ranking' for Week 3 of January (from January 17th to January 23rd). Although not many points were collected in terms of music chart rankings (12 points), no. of broadcasts (0 point) and no. of articles (4 points), Taeyeon's 'I Love You' received a whopping 305,292 votes from fans.
TVXQ (255,977 votes) and GD & Top (17,919 votes) were ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The winners are selected based on the following criteria – music charts ranking (20%), no. of broadcasts (20%), no. of articles (10%) and online fan votes (50%). [NEWS] Release of Tae Yang "Solar" DVD Concert Postponed!

YGE Shop has just posted an announcement to its site for the Solar Concert DVD saying that the release will be postponed to February 8 from its original date of January 26.

Reason given is that the manufacturer is unable to meet its shipping deadline due to the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays. This will likely affect both the Japan and Korea versions, but this is still subject to confirmation. (As of the time of this posting, YesAsia and AmazonJP have not yet changed the release dates on their site. DVD Heaven has already updated the date on their site.)

Hoya from the idol group, Infinite, has been attracting attention because of his similar looks to JYJ's Junsu.
Hoya posted a selca picture on the 19th, at around 11 PM, on his Twitter saying "At the awards ceremony!". In the picture, you can see Hoya brightly smiling while showing a V-sign. His clear skin on the white background and vivid eyes make him stand out. 
Netizens who saw the picture all said, "In this picture, Hoya looks exactly like JYJ's Junsu". Following this, reactions formed such as, "Hoya's eye line and the shape of his mouth looks exactly like Junsu's. [News] MBLAQ, “If People View A ‘Glitter Dance’ In A Wrong Way, It Looks Like ‘Parking Attendant’ Dance”

MBLAQ's 'glitter dance' is already receiving a popularity from netizens.

At various UCC sites, 'Following along with "glitter dance"' videos are appearing.

'Glitter dance' is a core choreography of MBLAQ's first full album title song 'Stay' and a main point of this choreography is to wear a silver glove and shake right had in a 'glitter glitter' way.

It is estimated to rise as a 'national choreography' in a long time since it is easy for everyone to follow it along.

This choreography is more meaningful since MBLAQ's teacher Rain gave it as a present himself.

MBLAQ appeared on a SBS 'Kim Jungeun's Chocolate' and revealed truthfully about
a choreography of title song 'Stay'. Lee Joon explained as "Rain sunbaenim suddenly came in and taught us this as he said 'This fit you guys'. When Rain sunbaenim does it, it looks wonderful, but when we do it, it doesn't look wonderful. Therefore, we really worked hard for this."

Lee Joon also made guests laugh by saying "If people view the choreography in a wrong way, it will be seen as parking attendant".

[News] Changmin and the Army Idols to perform "Mister" and "Genie" at the Star Couple Challenge Cup

"Army Idols" Shinhwa's Kim Dongwan, H.O.T's Moon Heejun, and 2AM's Lee Changmin will perform Kara's "Mister" and SNSD's "Genie" at the SBS Star Couple Challenge Cup. All 3 members have served in the army, hence the term "army idols". The special will air on February 3rd at 6:00PM!
