Park Bo-young settles contract dispute with management

Posted: 18 Sep 2010 06:20 AM PDT

Park Bo-young has finally settled the legal battle with her management company, Humane Entertainment, which hopefully means that we’ll be able to see her back onscreen soon. (Finally!)

Back in April, Park had filed a complaint against her management company alleging forgery of documents and requesting the termination of her contract. However, in June the company was acquitted and she faced the possibility of being countersued for defamation and libel. She faced an additional lawsuit, explained here, in which she and her company were accused by a film production company of reneging on a movie role. She was cleared of those allegations.

I love Park Bo-young, who has a wonderful presence and solid acting chops for one of her tender years. She has had a number of memorable roles in dramas and films (King and I, Our High School E.T., Secret Campus), but it was really the brisk comedy Speed Scandal, where she played a young unwed mother, that solidified her star status. It was a bummer that she would be kept from acting due to legal reasons, so I hope we see her back in action right away.

Playful Kiss: Episode 5

Posted: 17 Sep 2010 08:48 PM PDT

Yay! Playful Kiss finally figured out how to tell a story!

This was the episode I was waiting for — one that felt complete, had an arc, told a story, was driven by something more than pure fluffy cuteness. It’s too bad this week dropped this drama to new ratings lows, because it’s just starting to gel together for me, and I think it’s rather late to change people’s minds significantly. I only hope things continue in this vein.

Thriller film Psychic releases character posters and stills

Posted: 17 Sep 2010 03:10 PM PDT

New posters and stills are out for the Go Soo/Kang Dong-won thriller Psychic, which pits the two actors against each other in a battle of wills. Er, minds. Kang Dong-won plays the titular psychic who can exert powers over others, while Go Soo plays the only person who is immune to him.

Though the premise plays with supernatural thriller elements, this movie reportedly goes for a more realistic vibe than, say, Hollywood sci-fi flicks of the same stripe.

Jejoongwon’s Sean Richard joins Athena

Posted: 17 Sep 2010 10:20 AM PDT

Another addition has been made to upcoming spy drama Athena, which premieres in December (Giant‘s extension has pushed the premiere back from its original November target): Sean Richard (or Sean Richard Dulake), the Korean-American actor who played Dr. Allen in SBS’s medical sageuk show Jejoongwon.

If you don’t recognize him, I don’t blame you; he was styled drastically differently in Jejoongwon, where I thought he was about twenty years older than his real age. (He’s 26.)

In Athena, he’ll be a part of Cha Seung-won‘s secret organization, shedding the gentler image from Jejoongwon to dive into the action genre.
