My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho: Episode 13 Posted: 23 Sep 2010 08:48 PM PDT Oh, My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho just kicked it up a notch. Yeah, I cried like a baby in Episode 13. Ratings-wise, this week was a real hit, since Baker King is out of the picture. Numbers shot up to 15.2% for Episode 13, then even more to 19.2% for Episode 14, which aired back to back on Thursday night. (For consistency’s sake I use AGB numbers, which are more readily available, but TNS numbers for these two episodes were even higher — 19.4% and 22.5%.) Meanwhile, Playful Kiss had a 5.8% (6.0% TNS) and Baker King’s special drew a 16.8% (17.9% TNS). Special request: I know you’re all probably itching to discuss both episodes, but we’d really appreciate if you could keep the commentary in this recap to this episode. We promise the next one will be up for you to talk about soon! Baker King Cinderella: a mashup Posted: 23 Sep 2010 04:32 PM PDT A parody video has been making the rounds, which mashes up the plot of two KBS hit dramas this year, Cinderella’s Sister and Baker King Kim Tak-gu. The 10-minute clip was broadcast during the Chuseok week on KBS’s Big Star X File, described as a “hyper-speed makjang mashup mini-drama Baker King Cinderella.” In it, the loveline is drawn between the prickly Eun-jo (Cinderella’s Sister’s Moon Geun-young) and Tak-gu (Baker King hero Yoon Shi-yoon), who fall in love and work together to find the perfect yeast — she for her makgulli factory, he for his baking recipe. Ma-jun’s father (Baker’s Jeon Kwang-ryul) is run off the road and wakes up in a strange house (Daesung Factory), where he falls for Kang-sook (Cinderella‘s Lee Mi-sook). He sets up two households, leaving the bitter wife (Jeon In-hwa) back at home. Naturally, she’s not pleased, and this leads to a showdown between the two mean moms over their man. (I’m sorry this isn’t subbed, because the moms’ face-off is pretty awesome, with Ma-jun’s mother trying to get the upper hand but Eun-jo’s mom retorting, “Do you know who I am? I’m the bitch who faced off against God and Buddha and won.”) Ma-jun’s mother loses this round, so she sends Hyo-sun (Seo Woo) to off her rival, and Hyo-sun attempts this through scare tactics. The clip has been a hit, and viewers are putting in a request for a sequel, Kim Tak-gu Unni. (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 29 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Sungkyunkwan Scandal: Episode 6 Posted: 23 Sep 2010 12:00 PM PDT Dear Moony and Yummy Faction members, Thank you for your peaceful and harmonious alliance. It is indeed near impossible to choose between two very attractive men, and no one should be forced into that situation (at least not in K-drama Land). I hope your relationship stays strong – as strong as the friendship between Gul-oh (“mad horse”) and Yeo-rim (“forest of females”). Having said that, I’d like to propose you take interest in one more handsome man to create a triumvirate that would undoubtedly rule Joseon SKK: Ga-rang (“perfect husband”). He’s an upstanding stickler for principles and will never let you down. Yours truly, (...) © red_pill for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 161 comments | Add to del.icio.us This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
