Behind the scenes on Sungkyunkwan Scandal

Posted: 27 Sep 2010 05:46 AM PDT

It’s totally entertaining to see the onscreen camaraderie building between the four leads of KBS’s Sungkyunkwan Scandal, so it’s like icing on the cake to see that good-natured fun exists behind the scenes as well. In fact, before the drama began airing the four actors — Micky Yoochun, Park Min-young, Song Joong-ki, and Yoo Ah-in — stated that they all got along fabulously offscreen. Looks like it.

The drama recently released the following photos of its main quartet of kkot seonbis (pretty-boy Confucian scholars), also known as the Jalgeum quartet or Jalgeum F4. These photos were taken on the filming location in Yeongam-gun in south Jeolla province, in between filming, monitoring each other’s performances, and script rehearsing. Those of you who’ve seen through the latest episodes will no doubt recognize the scenes that were being shot when these were snapped.

Playful Kiss: Episode 8

Posted: 26 Sep 2010 08:11 PM PDT

Episode 7 was the first one I connected with on an emotional level (there was something in my eye, I swear), so I had higher expectations going into 8. We’re definitely in a better place than previous weeks, and I do think that this show actually improves from week to week.

Truthfully, it still hasn’t gripped me, but I enjoy it immensely, as the characters are all so lovely, quirky, and sweet. I think the style of the show is actually a nod to 50s Japanese cinema—it has that retro vibe to me, and it’s paced like an Ozu film, full of ellipses and driven by character rather than story. It’s not a horse that’s going to win any races, but it’s the underdog that keeps chugging along, just like Ha-ni would.

More stills from Queen of Reversals

Posted: 26 Sep 2010 03:44 PM PDT

A few more stills have come out for MBC’s spinoff series Queen of Reversals, which look like they come from the same shoot as the first stills that were released a little while back.

In the drama, Kim Nam-joo and Jung Jun-ho play Hwang Tae-hee and Bong Jun-su, respectively. After rushing into marriage, the two go through lots of comic and heartfelt ups and downs as they grow as a couple together. Second leads will be played by Park Shi-hoo as an indifferent second-generation chaebol and Chae Jung-ahn (Hot Blooded Salesmen) as Jun-su’s ex who wants him back after he gets together with Tae-hee.

Teaser poster for Eom Ji-won’s new sex comedy

Posted: 26 Sep 2010 11:21 AM PDT

This fall, Eom Ji-won (The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry) stars in the lighthearted sex comedy Festival, about four couples and the various issues that sex introduces into their relationships.

Eom stars opposite Shin Ha-kyun as a woman who buys a vibrator one day, sending her uptight police officer boyfriend into a tizzy about whether or not he can satisfy her. That? Is comedy. They should just do the whole movie about that one couple, because the premise sounds hysterical.
