[News] MC Mong's draft dodging news spreads to Australia

Recently, it has been confirmed that popular hip hop singer MC Mong has purposely removed a number of his perfectly normal teeth to avoid being conscripted into the military. An investigation has been carried out to examine these accusations as draft dodging is a serious crime in Korea.

South Korean Metropolitan police stated the following on the 10th of September, "Using three reasons, such as: applying for the grade 7 civil service exam, occupational training, and traveling overseas, MC Mong delayed his military enlistment 7 times between the years 1999 and 2006. During the two times he delayed his draft for his civil service exam application, he participated in the filming of a movie, released albums and participated in other activities."

Because South Korea is known for it's ongoing use of conscription where all able-bodied men are to serve in the military for approximately two years, the news has had great impact.

This news about MC Mong dodging military enlistment has already spread through a few countries neighbouring Korea but what's surprising is that it has reached Australia as well. As I am from Australia myself, I would know that it's not usual for Korean news to travel this far and to appear on our news sources.

The singer denies the accusations but was evicted from TV programs soon after the police investigated the case. Celebrities are frequently caught attempting to get away from  the draft fearing that they may be forgotten by their fans while away in the army.

After about a year since his last released, Click B's Oh Jong Hyuk (also known as OJ) releases his comeback MV teaser for ballad song "Heart Skips a Beat."

Popular idol group Click B member Oh Jong Hyuk has been busy traveling to and from Korea and Japan. He is back with his new digital single "OJ", released today in Korea.




The title track, "Heart Skips a Beat" is composed by singer-songwriter The Name, who has written many great tracks from artists like Big Mama's Lee Young Hyun, 4men and Vibe.



His other song "I QUIT" is a more electronic type of song with acoustic guitars. It's a hip hop/ reggae song with a sweet voice.

Rappers such as BEAST's Junhyung, 4minute's Hyuna, Outsider, Vasco, Mighty Mouth's Sangchu, Verbal Jint, 237 and Josuc, come together to make a song produced by S-Tiger for Faddy Robot!

The track was revealed on Faddy Robot's website today! Faddy Robot is a fashion brand with a unique style, presenting the relation between human and robots. It has a certain focus for "street fashion, culture and also various lifestyles, where the present and future coexists."

[News] Interview With Trio's Legal Spokesman Lawyer Lim Sang Hyuk

In an interview on the 17th, the trio's legal spokesman and lawyer Lim Sang Hyuk revealed that, "Avex requested changes in the contract that the members found difficult to agree to in clauses regarding topics such as income distribution."

Lawyer Lim Sang Hyuk also added, "At first, it was agreed that all activities performed by the three members would be scheduled and discussed by both sides, but Avex began asking for this to be changed so that Avex would have sole control of scheduling; Avex also requested additional changes that the trio felt were logically unacceptable"

Regarding Avex pinpointing the history of the head of C-JeS as the main reason for halting activities, Lawyer Lim explained that, "Mr. Baek, the head of C-JeS, willingly volunteered for his company to be excluded from the contract if his criminal record would become a problem, but Avex ignored such a notice," and "Later, they deemed that it would be difficult to progress normally with Mr. Baek's background."

The TVXQ trio's official statement said that, "Several months ago, Avex requested that C-JeS be excluded from the contract for such reasons, and the TVXQ trio agreed to such a request and actively participated in the discussions regarding the renewal of their contract with Avex in order to ensure that they would have smooth activities within Japan."

Lawyer Lim stated, "When viewing the chain of events, there were many situations that could only be seen as Avex insisting that things go their way and their way only. If the opposition decides to retaliate, we will release additional information from our side."

He also added that, "The essence of the current controversy is that an agency offered unfair conditions, contrary to what had been included in the previous contract, to their artistes. When these artistes refused to comply, the agency halted all activities, disregarding the members' wishes," and "It is disheartening to see that Avex is using the head of C-JeS, who is not affiliated with any gangs whatsoever, as a scapegoat to distract the media and public from the real problem."

Lawyer Lim criticized that, "It is immoral to back the TVXQ trio, some of Korea's most representative Hallyu stars, into a corner just because they cannot fulfill a company's greed," and strongly stressed that, "We will work hard to resolve this situation and allow the TVXQ trio to resume their activities in Japan."

Group MBLAQ had the bitter taste of disqualification after failing the part-time student examination to Seoul National University.

On the 16th episode of cable TV Mnet "Kim Soo Ro's Elite University Class," Lee Joon, Seung Ho, and Cheon Dung waited anxiously for the qualification message. Mir and G.O already heard their disqualification message on the last week's episode.

The result was that all members were disqualified. Lee Joon received low scores on the non-major subjects like English and writing components, while Seung Ho received good scores on the major related topics and writing parts, but low grades on his English. Cheon Dung, who lived in the Philippines in the past, received the best grades on his English, but lesser on his major related and writing components.

Actor Kim Soo Ro, who guided MBLAQ, couldn't hide his feelings, commenting, "Since all of you are disqualified, I feel terrible."

As a result, Mnet discontinued the "Celebrity Going to College" for the first time in its series. About this, Mnet "Kim Soo Ro's Elite University Class" staff said, "We are in the middle of looking at different solutions. There is nothing confirmed as of now. 'Elite University Class' will not air for now."

[News] TaeYang to end solo promotions and start preparation for Big Bang’s Korean comeback

TaeYang has recently ended the promotions for his album 'International release' and will return to Big Bang for group activities.

TaeYang who is currently busy with preparations of his upcoming independent concert 'I'll Be There' on 25th and 26th September will have his goodbye stage on MBC Music Core on 18th September. His recent album 'Solar' has achieved great results by going up to the #1 and #2 spots on Canada and American iTunes R&B/Soul chart even though there was no overseas promotions for it. And the 'International Release' also went up to the #5 spot on the chart.

After his solo concert, TaeYang will return to Big Bang and will start the preparations for the group's Korean comeback after 2 years.

[News] WGM Adam, YongSeo and Khuntora couples to come together for the 1st time for horror special

MBC variety program 'We Got Married' will be doing a horror special over the Chuseok holidays.

And the show, to air on 18th September, will have all 3 couples Adam couple (Jo Kwon and GaIn), YongSeo (Jung YongHwa and SeoHyun) and Khuntoria (Nich Khun and Victoria) will come together at one place for the first time.

The 3 couples will also participate in games like wrestling and couple relay thinking that they are all fighting for the title for the best couple on the special. But the real 'best couple' will be picked through another way.

The MC for the special will be C.N Blue Lee JungShin and the couples will have to go through a section where the couples will be rearranged into groups of 2 in a deserted school compound for a horror experience.

[News] Dong Bang Shin Ki’s temporal Japanese promotion suspension a worry for the ‘new Kpop hallyu’ in Japan

There has been great concern in Korea after news went out that Dong Bang Shin Ki trio Micky YooChun, Hero JaeJoong and Xiah JunSu had left their Japanese agency.

The news came directly from the trio's Japanese agency AVEX Trax on 16th September, announcing the temporal suspension of the trio's Japanese activities. With that on 17th September, the trio's representative responded on 17th September that the report is an one-sided report from AVEX Trax and have posed the trio with adverse conditions.

Even though this is for the trio's Japanese activities, there has been great interests coming from Korea's side as well. This is because currently, we are looking at the 'new hallyu' by singers who are promoting in Japanese currently like Big Bang, Supernova, KARA, So Nyeo Shi Dae etc.

In fact, the chance success to be achieved by the girlgroups in the Japanese music scene is said to be high. At the same time, many of these singers' local agencies are contacting Japanese agencies to work together for these group's Japanese promotions. And with this news, there have been many eyebrows raised from officials in the Korean music industry.

This comes as somewhat a cold air amidst the Kpop fever going on in the Japanese music scene. Dong Bang Shin Ki has been acknowledged as the representative Korean singer in the Japanese music scene. And many of the Japanese fans of KARA and So Nyeo Shi Dae are also fans of Dong Bang Shin Ki. This would have some impact on the Korean management companies to work with more caution with their groups promoting in Japan.

An official from the music scene commented, "Dong Bang Shin Ki is the pillar and the co-existence to Kpop in Japan. Even though they have not been very active since last year, we cannot underestimate the power that comes with the name in Japan. It is not exaggerating to say that the Kpop 'new hallyu' are made by Dong Bang Shin Ki. There are worries that with the 3 leaving the Japanese music scene, it will be like cold wind amidst the hot fever of Kpop in Japan."
