Gu Hye-sun’s vampire movie to follow The Musical Posted: 22 Sep 2010 06:36 AM PDT Actress Gu Hye-sun is getting ready to put on her director’s hat again with her next film, even as she’s currently working as an actress in the drama series The Musical. The project is her first feature film as the writer-director, an as-yet untitled vampire romance. She’s written and directed two shorts already, the latter of which, Magic, was released earlier this year to mixed reviews. (The film was called more style than substance, with a plodding plot but strong visual work.) In contrast with Magic, this project aims to be much more commercial and will be filmed on a large scale to do justice to its subject material. Gu is scheduled to travel to New York for The Musical‘s Broadway location shoots in October. She’ll stay there for about half a month, then return. The vampire movie has been in preparation for the better part of the past year, and will get going once The Musical wraps. Via Star News RELATED POSTS

Posted: 21 Sep 2010 10:01 PM PDT As announced last month, actress Han Ji-hye (East of Eden, Like the Moon Escaping From Clouds) married her prosecutor fiance today in a private ceremony in Hawaii. Han left Korea for Hawaii on the 18th — no doubt Hawaii holds a certain appeal, since it allows for the wedding party to have some privacy from the Korean media. Well, and also — it’s Hawaii. That’s reason enough, I’m sure, and the couple will spend their honeymoon there. They plan to return to Seoul at the end of the month. Han met her groom in January 2009 at a church gathering, and announced her engagement in August 2010. As yet there have been no wedding photos of the couple; I wonder if they’ll release a few after the ceremony. Congratulations to the happy couple. Via BNT News RELATED POSTS

BoA and Jung Woo-sung on a date (for Athena) Posted: 21 Sep 2010 06:30 PM PDT Well, Mr. Jung Woo-sung, you sure are getting around, aren’t you? First you were romancing Su Ae in Italy, and then we saw stills of you cozying up to Lee Jia, and then there was that bed scene with Su Ae. Now a date with pan-Asian pop superstar BoA? Posted: 21 Sep 2010 03:00 PM PDT OH MAN. This episode is sofa king good. Not only is it plotted tightly, staying one step (or, let’s face it, five) ahead of us, dropping well-placed hints, it has a strong emotional throughline. Despite having the most intense plot yet, it’s also the funniest episode thus far. I laughed, I cried, I gaped in awe. SONG OF THE DAY Na Yoon-sun – “강원도 아리랑” (Gangwon-do Arirang). When I heard this song, I immediately thought of this drama. Gangwon-do is an eastern province adjacent to Kyeonggi-do and the capital city Hanyang (Seoul), and is an important location in this drama, since it’s where everything began with the strange light in the sky. Arirang is a famous Korean folk song characterized by a simple melody and mournful quality. Jang Dong-gun’s Warrior’s Way out in December Posted: 21 Sep 2010 10:59 AM PDT Jang Dong-gun‘s Hollywood debut project, The Warrior’s Way, has finally gotten a release date: It’ll open in both Korea and the U.S. on December 3. Formerly titled Laundry Warrior, the fantasy-Western action movie has been in the works for a while now, but with no word of an official release; Jang has even filmed and released one movie since shooting Warrior’s Way (Jang Jin’s Good Morning, President). The preview was released last year (watch here) and the release has been pushed back at least once, so it’s a good thing it’s finally fixed a date. The film, which boasts lots of action and CG effects, stars Kate Bosworth and Geoffry Rush, while Jang plays a warrior who comes to an out-of-the-way village at the end of a desert. Posted: 21 Sep 2010 07:05 AM PDT Kwon Sang-woo becomes the victim of mudslinging, and I mean that in the literal sense, in a scene for his upcoming drama Daemul. This particular moment comes in Episode 3, which airs October 13. His character, passionate prosecutor Ha Do-ya, speaks to a mob of protesters who have gathered to demonstrate against the development of reclaimed land.
