| Shin Jung Hwan gets kicked off MBC Posted: 13 Sep 2010 02:18 PM PDT Entertainer Shin Jung-hwan just can’t catch a break! Evidence regarding his scandals on gambling debts and a “fake” hospitalization are turning up… Shin Jung-hwan recently disappeared, only to be found at a resort in Mactan Island with his girlfriend from Korea. Media sources are speculating to find out the truth, and turns out the entertainer, along with his girlfriend and 3-4 others were stopped by a casino and later stayed in a VIP room for an hour. Having already lost 200 million won (around $172,000) in baccarat, he was caught gambling again! Many people began to speculate where he got the money for gambling, and through investigation it was confirmed that the money was not his own. An associate revealed, “Shin Jung Hwan has no money under his name. Sunday night, he had a drink with some friends and later went to gamble with someone else's money in order to calm himself.” The investigation is being led by Sports Seoul and the facts they have so far are as follows: 1. Shin Jung-hwan moved to Mactan Island after being discharged on Sept 9th. On top of it all, he claimed to be in the hospital due to treatment of dengue fever, but reportedly does not have any symptom of illness, sparking a fresh round of disputes about his real motive. SBS’s ‘Tonight’s Entertainment,’ which aired on Thursday, quoted a doctor at the Cebu Hospital in the Philippines as saying that Shin is currently fit, which contradicts the conditions described by the entertainer himself a day earlier. Not only is Shin Jung-hwan’s current situation complicated, he has ruined his reputation in Korea and is being dropped by MBC. The network announced that he will be taken off of variety programs, ‘Bouquet’ and ‘Radio Star.’ They stated, "We have no reason to use the words kicked off or leave. He is the one that broke his promise to the viewers. His trust has already been lost." Before MBC, KBS was the first to drop Shin Jung-hwan off of ‘Star Golden Bell‘ for being a nuisance to society. Hopefully Shin Jung-hwan shapes up because his situation isn’t looking too positive anytime soon.              |

| Lee Minho’s possible new drama role revealed! Posted: 13 Sep 2010 12:22 PM PDT ‘Boys over Flowers‘ star, Lee Min-ho might be a womanizing detective for his next drama role! According to reports, there is a big possibility that Lee Min-ho will take the lead role in the Korean adaption of ‘City Hunter,’ a Japanese anime and manga about a playboy detective. ‘City Hunter’ was originally created by Hojo Tsukasa in 1985, and although there has been numerous adaptations in the past, none have been too successful. The series has received numerous requests in the past for drama adaptations but were turned down due to the creator’s disapproval. However, Tsukasa is satisfied with Lee Min-ho as the lead, no doubt due to his overwhelming popularity! If this version of the drama is finalized, it will take place in Seoul next year. A womanizing detective sounds like the perfect role for our pretty boy, don’t you think?           |

Posted: 13 Sep 2010 11:44 AM PDT MBLAQ member, Mir has expressed his sadness over not receiving enough attention over his newly dyed hair… Mir wrote on his twitter, "I dyed my hair but why does no one know about that. Whyyㅠㅠ I made a big decision to dye my hair. The others, SeungHo hyung with his pantie, G.O hyung with his hair, Joonie hyung with his body and CheonDoongie hyung with his charms. I just hope that even for a short while I will get some attention and concern. I dyed my hair." Mir sounds pretty bummed that no one made a big deal over his hair, especially since it was a hard decision for him. What do you think, is Mir being cute or completely ridiculous?           |
| Se7en disrespects on MBC ‘Quiz That Changes the World’ Posted: 13 Sep 2010 11:28 AM PDT After almost 4 long years of absence, YG’s Se7en is back on variety shows, but this time not in such a pleasant spotlight. On a recent episode of MBC’s ‘Quiz That Changes the World,’ many netizens noticed Se7en’s slouching and body language. What made the incident worse was, he was next to senior celebrities such as Ha Choon Hwa. This wasn’t the first time. His bad behaviour continued from last week on ‘Happy Together‘ where Se7en halfheartedly played the couple’s games with comedian, Park Ji Sun, seeming like he didn’t like her. As Se7en explained afterwards that he thought it would make the episode funnier, viewers were soon to forgive, but this time looks like it will be harder to explain to them about recent incident. As many viewers were soon to criticize Se7en, one wrote, "How can he be practically laying down with his arms crossed when his seniors' seniors are right next to him?? The staff will have to regulate these kinds of small details". Even a fan of Se7en responded with, "Even as a fan, I was disappointed" and "Please dont forget your rookie years". With all these problems, how will Se7en cool off from all the fire he’s getting from netizens?           |
| New 10-member Boy-Girl Group: Co-ed Posted: 13 Sep 2010 10:46 AM PDT Yes, that says 10 members. The next “big” group is going to be the co-ed 10 member “Co-ed” (Nam Nyuh Kong Hak, NNKH). In a rather Dong-bang-shin-ki (DBSK) way, this group has enable the power of the 4-syllable names, extending all the way to the individual members’ names, ala Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun, Hero Jaejoong, Max (Choikang) Changmin and U-know Yunho. Because we’re caring writers at POPSEOUL, we’re going to break down the members names in the easiest way possible (aka. roughest translation). Thus, the names are not official names, which will probably be revealed if this 10-member love boat can gain popularity.
Is that all ten? Sadly, most of the four-syllable names don’t give many hints to who the actually person is. Perhaps the extra words will help fans remember (or forget) the Co-ed members names. Though DBSK’s members names all had corresponding Chinese and English versions, Co-ed members have neither, making this introduction post rather hard to write. Not to mention, most of the girls have similar names in Korean, Han Bit (Shining), Han Byul (Big Star), Byul-bit (Starlight), which is just plain confusing. These are also their unreleased debut single’s concept photos, leading fans to believe it’s a ragged, rough-n-tumble, children-of-the-street concept. We at POPSEOUL are leaning towards a post-apocalyptic, new generation, slightly-dirty-children concept, but we’re sure that both would be suitable. The 10-member group is set to debut on the 27th of this month with a 3D music video special showing that the Coex Mall Megabox Theatre in Samsung-dong, Seoul. What do you think of the 10-member mixed group? Aimed toward greatness? Or a great failure (involving many members)? Would you want to go see the 3D music video?           |

Though the girl group is in the midst of their comeback, 2NE1′s vocal power is expected to have cancellations in her schedule in order to have time to rest. A representative from YG Entertainment explained, “Due to overwork, Park Bom’s body isn’t in a good condition. She says that it’s even difficult to stand up from sitting in a chair.” The representative also added, “As Park Bom’s health is most important, all her schedules for today will be canceled. We will continue to monitor her progress as she rests in the hospital.” It has been reported that Ringer’s solution is already being administered to the singer. Let’s hope that Park Bom can get some rest and resume activities healthier and happier.           |

On the September12th broadcast of KBS 2TV “Night Travel Agency,” it was revealed that Onew spent his hard-earned money to buy his father a mid-sized car. During the “Dracula Game” corner of the show, there is a situation when guests have to confess either a bad act or a good act. In that situation, Onew confessed, “With the first money I earned, I bought my father a mid-sized car. After doing that my uncle called me praising me that I was a ‘kind son.’” Onew said that he did it out of filial piety, as his father was without a car for over 10 years. Though it is somewhat of a tradition for Korean children to give their parents a gift when they receive their first paycheck, a car is a pretty hefty gift. If a car is filial duty these days, then probably only Onew fits the description of a filial child. Within the day “Filial Son (효자 hyoja) Onew” is topping search engines. Onew’s good reputation keeps building and building. Onew is really that good boy you can take home to mother. POPSEOUL ladies, would you choose this nice guy Onew over any other “bad boy”?           |

Over a seven-year period(starting from 1999-2006), reports claim MC Mong has been using his teeth as an excuse to dodge his mandatory military duty. In 1998,the popular celebrity visited the dentist and his teeth were in impeccable condition.When the news about his supposed draft dodging began to surface,twelve of his teeth were missing. He has postponed his military enlistment date because of these health exams,but some have discovered that Mong was participating in his entertainment job duties rather than taking care of his health. Many suspect he pulled out extra teeth just to fail the examinations.Following these revelations,his ” HaHaMong Show” and “1 days and 2 nights” have excluded him from their productions.
