Kim So-yeon surprised with a birthday party on set Posted: 09 Nov 2010 05:10 AM PST Kim So-yeon turned 30 last week, and since she’s hard at work filming a drama at the moment (SBS’s Dr. Champ), she celebrated the event on set. Her birthday was on November 2; the following day, the drama’s crew surprised her with a party and a cake while she was at the Hallym University hospital in Anyang to shoot scenes. She’s got a particularly good relationship with the staff, with whom she also worked on her previous drama, SBS’s Prosecutor Princess; in fact, she says she chose this role not only because she liked the character, but because of her faith in the crew. Mary Stayed Out All Night: Episode 1 Posted: 08 Nov 2010 08:44 PM PST
KBS premiered its new Monday-Tuesday drama today, Mary Stayed Out All Night, which I thought started out fluffy-silly with a basic premise that’s pretty ho-hum familiar, but which got progressively better as the hour went on. The series started off with a tentative 8.5% rating (not bad, not great), though the public’s response seems generally positive. Rival dramas stayed about the same as usual; SBS’s Giant drew a 29.5%, and MBC’s Queen of Reversals a 10.8%. With the first episode over, I can say that I’m feeling cautiously optimistic. I can’t say I’m hooked, but the tone is refreshing, the pace breezy, but most importantly, the chemistry between Jang Geun-seok and Moon Geun-young is incredibly cute. Like, ridiculously adorable. When they smile, it makes me smile. That’s a good sign. Hyun Bin’s on top for Secret Garden Posted: 08 Nov 2010 03:53 PM PST Literally. *Snerk.* The thing is, I really want to enjoy the idea of Hyun Bin somehow landing on top of Ha Ji-won for their new drama Secret Garden — and seeing what ridiculous plot contrivance is employed to get our characters into such a position oh-so-coincidentally — but I’m too distracted by the shiny be-sequined jacket that he’s wearing, and the matching sparkly racing stripe running down his pant legs. Who do you think you are, Kwon Sang-woo? (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 42 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Posted: 08 Nov 2010 10:40 AM PST This episode the dynamics change and bring some new possibilities: a couple of murders throw a spanner in the works, a certain foreigner’s entire destiny changes, a young girl is made over (to the delight of her love interest) and a meddling mother wishes she’d had the sex talk sooner.
