Sungkyunkwan Scandal: Episode 20 (Final)

Posted: 11 Nov 2010 08:45 PM PST

Dear Jal-geum Quartet,

Thank you for the memories, the tears, the laughs, the squeals, the giggles, the sighs, the cringes, the waff, the thump-thumps, the insomnia, the dreams, the fantasies, the discussions, the love, the shipping, the great times, the smiles, the late nights, the early mornings, the procrastination, the cheers, the oh-nos, the arguments, the factions, the alliances, the heartache, the heartbreak, the bliss, the grief, the tingles, the tangles, the conspiracies, the bromances, the flutters, the gasps, the nail-biting, the TGIM, the curses, the hallelujahs, the prayers and the fun times.

It was a helluva ride. You were worth every moment.

Love, red pill

Jung Kyeo-woon joins the cast of Sign

Posted: 11 Nov 2010 04:37 PM PST

As his current role as a lovable lunkhead judo player in Dr. Champ winds to a close, Jung Kyeo-woon is busy lining up his next gig, and has joined the new SBS drama Sign, which co-stars Park Shin-yang and Kim Ah-joong.

While the other two leads are forensic doctors in this C.S.I.-like medical investigation drama, Jung plays a reckless punk of a cop (I can see it) who’s assigned to the violent crime division.

Jung said in a recent interview, “As soon as I finish Dr. Champ, I’m going to begin my next project without taking a break. I really like the character I’m playing, so I couldn’t pass it by.” He added that while he shares some personality traits with his bright Ji-heon character of Champ, this new role is a completely different type, and he’s looking forward to making the transformation.

Dr. Champ wraps filming next week, at which point Jung will join the Sign production straightaway. Sign will premiere in the first week of January following Daemul, and follows the coroners and forensic analysts who investigate murders.

I know actors don’t like being typecast, but I kinda wish Jung were playing someone more like his current character, because I never really cared for him until Champ came along and he won me over with his goofy, persistent charm. (While we’re talking about wish lists, I also wish Eom Ji-won would reprise her adorable sunniness from The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry rather than pulling a 180 and going for ambitious careerwoman. Then again, her Marry character was also an ambitious careerwoman who still managed to be daffy and ridiculous…) Well, at at least Champ has proven that Jung can surprise us, so I’m hoping he brightens up the cast of Sign.

Joseon X-Files: Episode 9

Posted: 11 Nov 2010 11:24 AM PST

This episode starts out seeming more disconnected from the others, making me think at first that it was a filler-type episode — but trust this drama to find a way to tie it to the secrets of the bigger picture as well. I’ll never doubt you again, Joseon X-Files!

This was also a pretty funny episode, despite the subject matter. It reminded me of Episode 4 in that respect, finding ways to sneak in dry bits of humor in between the tension-building and mystery of the case. Kim Ji-hoon really is great doing grouchy humor.

(I did, however, miss not having Yoon-yi and Jang Man around this time.)
