[Up-and-Coming] This Guy Replaced Jay Park

…in the recently popular drama “Secret Garden.” Who is this guy? Lee Jong-seok.

Initially rumored and partially confirmed, many thought ex-2PM member Jay Park (Jaebum) would have a supporting role in the body-swapping SBS drama “Secret Garden,” as a part of his comeback. Yet, the production staff went a different direction for the role of “Sun,” a small-time singer/songwriter, and signed new face actor Lee Jong-seok.

Who is this guy? He’s a 21-year-old model transitioning to acting. Previously he had a small role in the SBS drama “Prosecutor Princess,” but to most of TV land, he’s an unknown actor with a flower boy face.

In a singing role, Lee Jong-seok trained under famous singing coach Lee Jae-hoon. The training seems to be successful as netizens are growing more and more interested in the “kid that sings well.” Many viewers thought that he was already a signed singer, but now news outlets are letting everyone know, he’s not. In an interview, the actor revealed that he trained briefly to become an idol singer, but stopped for modeling and acting.

The model didn’t only beat out Jay for the role. Lee Jong-seok revealed that the casting “called a lot of idols [for the role]… Beast, Super Junior, etc. I was surprised.”

“Secret Garden” stars some of Korea’s finest talent: Hyun Bin, Ha Ji-won, and Yoon Sang-hyun. With this quality of sunbaes, any aspiring actor would die for this role.

There’s no Jay, but viewers are pleased with the “Sun” character, who already admitted to being gay in order to escape Yoon Sang-hyun’s character in Episode 5. Mysteriously brooding, free-spirited, young-but-composed, and altogether complicated, how would Jay have fared in this role?

As “Secret Garden” fans are looking forward to seeing the character development of “Sun,” we’re all expecting a bright future for Lee Jong-seok.

How many members are in Super Junior?

According to the KBS show, “100 Points out of 100“, Super Junior is now a group consisting of only eleven members.

On the episode of “100 Points out of 100” which aired on November 27, 2010, the MCs for the show, Park Kyung-rim and Park Myung-soo, stated that if a group has eleven members, it’s better for the members to not be a part of such a big group. This was said in response to members of idol bands stating that they must share all earnings seriously.

Fans of Super Junior are angry at the MCs for blurting out false statements. They still believe that Super Junior is a 13 member group even without Han-kyung and Ki-bum.
