Ji Hyun-woo and Park Shi-yeon break into the idol biz Posted: 11 Nov 2010 07:20 AM PST Park Shi-yeon (Coffee House) and Ji Hyun-woo (Birth of the Rich), lead guitarist of kpop band The Nuts, have been cast as leads in the upcoming film Happy Together. The movie will take place in the world of the music industry, and in particular the idol factory. Right on. Would love to see this world dramatized, especially if there’s a chance it’s not just a fluff piece. Ji Hyun-woo will be playing a twenty-something vocalist in a band, and Park Shi-yeon will play the thirty-something producer who wants to turn him into an idol star. Interesting dynamic. I like it already. I just hope the story has some edge; if played safe this loses all interest from me. Truthfully, I’ll probably watch it anyway for Park Shi-yeon. My main take-aways from Coffee House were: 1) book cafes are cool in theory, but weird in practice; 2) you can stuff a body in a suitcase as long as they’re compliant; and 3) Park Shi-yeon is a gem. Love her. Happy Together also stars Kim Suro (God of Study, Quiz King) and Im Won-hee (also of Quiz King). Directing will be Ra Hee-chan (All We Need Is Courage, The Big Scene). Eric begins filming on Poseidon Posted: 11 Nov 2010 02:01 AM PST Woohoo, Eric is back! Just two weeks after his army discharge, he’s back to work on the upcoming big-budget action drama Poseidon, and here are his first stills from the production. These photos come from his first shoot, which took place on November 9 at Taean’s Shinjin Port. He said, “This is my second time working with Kim Kang-woo, who plays my rival here, after we first acted together in the drama I Run.” (Kim Kang-woo was the lead in that show, while Eric had a supporting role.) “Along with Kim Kang-woo, who I debuted with, I will show you a more mature performance as an actor.” (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 15 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Sungkyunkwan Scandal: Episode 19 Posted: 10 Nov 2010 08:22 PM PST Hold onto your wide-brimmed hats, people. We’ve got a lot of ground to cover, and this train ain’t slowin’ down for no one. In this penultimate episode, Yong-ha gets outed, Jae-shin gets locked up, Sun-joon gets roasted as the sacrificial lamb, and Yoon-hee gets found out…FINALLY. Looks like we’re headed into the finale with eyes wide open and hands in the air. (...) © girlfriday for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 102 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Psychic’s Go Soo likes his clean-cut image Posted: 10 Nov 2010 03:53 PM PST The newest project for Go Soo and Kang Dong-won, the action-thriller movie Psychic, opened in theaters today, and in conjunction with all the promo activities for the film, we’ve had interviews and photo shoots galore with the two lead actors. Such as the following interview with Go Soo (which is actually a collection of several separate interviews). In case you’re unfamiliar with the film, Psychic stars Kang Dong-won as a man with the supernatural power to control people with his gaze. This is a burden more than benefit, and his character just wants to live normally. Then he meets Go Soo, who is, curiously, the only person who remains immune to his powers. Thus begins the showdown. (Watch the trailer here.) (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 27 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Heaven gets renamed Sign, sets premiere date Posted: 10 Nov 2010 10:42 AM PST As previously mentioned, Kim Ah-joong (Accidental Couple, above) and Park Shin-yang (Painter of the Wind) will soon be returning to broadcast airwaves with their new drama, initially titled Heaven, which has now been renamed Sign and given a slot on SBS’s upcoming TV schedule. The medical investigation drama takes a page out of the C.S.I. handbook in following the work of two forensic doctors: he’s the famous perfectionist boss, she’s the rookie subordinate. Of course. So what else is new? Together they’ll perform autopsies and solve murder cases; the drama also looks into the power struggles and rivalries that exist within their organization. (Or, to put it simply: office drama!) (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 21 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
