[News] JYJ’s New Leap “The Broadcasting Restrictions Are A Shame”

Unable to engage in regular activities due to problems with their former agency
Their album will be released in the US early next year, followed by a world tour

They are honest and austere. The three members of JYJ, Jaejoong-Yoochun-Junsu, are passionate youths in their mid-20s, no different from their peers. When we asked Yoochun, who recently starred in the drama as the lead role, "We enjoyed your drama. Do you plan on taking on a non-historical, modern drama?" he gave us a taste of his 'lame humor' by saying "Hyundai Geuk (modern drama), Kia Geuk, Samsung Geuk…" Everyone burst out in laughter a beat late.


But when we brought up the topic of their legal dispute with SM Entertainment, the agency of their former group TVXQ, a shadow was cast on the three youths' faces. Last July, the three members filed an exclusive contract suspension injunction stating that, "13 years for the contract length is too long, and we have not been receiving just treatment with regards to things such as income distribution from album sales." The Courts ruled in favor of JYJ that, "Until the verdict on the lawsuit is made, SM cannot interfere with the trio's independent activities in the entertainment industry," and the lawsuit on the exclusive contract is currently underway. With regards to the reason of why they filed the lawsuit, Junsu stated, "It wasn't just because of the unjust nature of the contract," and "We were hurt and scarred by the agency in areas where we put our trust in them so we began to think about searching for a happy life."

Though JYJ released their first album in October, they have not been able to engage in regular activities due to many problems, including SM claiming that JYJ are locked in a 'dual contract'. The Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industry sent an official document to broadcasting companies requesting that they refrain from giving JYJ appearances on their shows. Junsu stated, "It's a shame and it's frustrating that we don't have the freedom to appear on TV like other singers. Because our relationship with AVEX, who was in charge of our Japanese activities, no longer exists, our door to Japanese activities is blocked as well."

They are currently holding activities after signing on to an agent contract with CJeS Entertainment. What is different from before? "Everything that we thought was unjust has been fixed. We feel a greater sense of accomplishment because everything revolves around our opinions, no matter what it is. We've learned to be thankful of even the small things that we used to easily brush off before." (Junsu) "Each and every detail on the album, from the cover to the recording and mixing of the songs, was decided upon through discussions between the agency and the three of us. The thought that 'Doing things this way is really nice' was reinforced through the process." (Jaejoong)

"Back when we were TVXQ, there was too much work and no time to spare. When we were working on an album, the staff, excluding us and our composers, would hold discussions and just send us their decisions on everything." (Yoochun)

The trio decided to include songs composed by each of them in their album. Junsu stated, "We enjoy writing songs, but we won't insist on having to include songs composed by ourselves," and "What matters most is that we're singing good songs, regardless of whether it was us who wrote the songs or not." In their first concert on the 27th and 28th of last month, they sang Jaejoong's new composition 'Nine'. It is a song about the nine years the five members of TVXQ have spent together. "When I look back on the past nine years, there were times when we shined and there were times when things were rough… It's hard to express it all in one sentence. What I included in the song is only a small portion of what I feel." (Jaejoong) "If we were to express in song, everything that has happened till now, we'd need to compose at least 500 songs?" (Yoochun)

The trio still have a strong attachment to 'TVXQ'. When asked about their feelings on U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin's comeback as TVXQ next year, Jaejoong stated, "We support them and we hope all goes well for them." But he also added that, "But we do feel sad that they're using the name TVXQ. Because we think that TVXQ can only truly be TVXQ when the five members are together, we decided to use another name. TVXQ is a name that is as valuable to us as our lives." Yoochun added, "Though we are currently facing many difficulties, we are always open to the possibility of a TVXQ reunion," and "That would be like Utopia for us."

JYJ will be kicking off their US activities with the release of their album in the US early next year. Jaejoong stated, "While we're in the US, we'll be working on some music and holding a world tour." Junsu sounded bitter as he stated, "There is the aspect that due to the restrictions on our domestic activities, we've had to entirely focus our attention on overseas activities."

We asked them one final question. We asked them whether or not they felt sad that other singers were reaping the rewards of the hard work the members had put in to get the 'Kpop' wind blowing in Japan as JYJ are unable to perform there.

"Not at all. We were able to be loved in Japan thanks to BoA and Bae Yong Joon. If what we've done benefits our juniors, then that's something to feel good about. If our juniors to well and the Japanese market expands, we might be able to perform in Japan again." (Junsu)

On the broadcast of "Super Junior' Foresight" on the 22nd, Kyuhyun made a surprise confession, "Since I was a child I had showed an extraordinary skill of singing and by my parent's recommendation, I participated in a christmas carol's recording"

According to our correspondent in Romania, Kim ByeongSoo, in the last 7 days, the main fan clubs organized "Loving Korea" that was held in the capital Bucharest.
This event was planned together with R.A.F. (Korean Drama and Music fanclub), 'Mirotic Cristal Romania' (DBSK's Romanian fanclib), Primadonna Romania (FTI's Romania fanclib and E.L.F Romania (Super Junior's Romania fanclub).
The beginning of August – the holiday time for Romania.
Romanian fans spent more then 10 hours on the territory wide to be transported over the long distance and it was not expected to have such a big progress from the fans.
However, unlike expected, the feast organized with love by Romania fangirls was a success.
Even if the stars didn't attended this event, there were 150 people (fans) who attended, they watched videos of their favorites singers and the atmosphere was like in a concert.
Our correspondent said "They call it 'singing alone' (karaoke) and they had like 40 songs" and "they also had a dance party (dance battle)" that was amazing.
Korean dramas such as Dae Jang Geum, Yi San and Queen Seondeok aired in Romania and introduced the traditional culture of Korea, therefore the embassy of Korea in Romania brought Hanbok to the fanmeeting for experience, and as a bonus, they went to a local Korea restaurant.
The fanmeeting lasted 5 hours, and after that finished, Romanian fans fans went outside, where the temperature was 37-degrees to promote the campaign "Loving Korea." This campaign had 60 fans who marched around Piata Universitatii (University Square) for 1 hour.
An official from SM Entertainment "In Super Junior's case, we are also surprised that they have more various nationalities of fans" and "Asian Tour's first performance will take place at the end of this week, we expect more fans to come from various countries" he said.

Various Journalists tackle T-ara's hectic schedule. They followed them around documenting T-ara's activities for 9 hours.

"Our December schedule is very hectic. We have to practice alot of our choreography, and other artists aswell", says Boram.

In their dressing room, 4 big bags of clothing can be seen, along with various make-up utensils for them. 

Every year-end, the biggest music festivals are held and the brightest stars who have worked hard the past year are always in attendance. There are always special performances that are organized.

7 members of T-ara in 9 hectic hours, you will see how their schedule really is in a short amount of time.



At 15:00, they go to their hairstylists as they sleep soundly. This is a rare chance for them to catch up on their sleep as Jiyeonexplains 'I feel like I only sleep for an hour.. I might fall asleep on-stage!'. 

Hyomin adds, 'I fell asleep at the hair shop today and almost fell down the stairs!'

From there they move to the music show's backstage/waiting room and they are fixing their hair accessories and make-up. They have to sing 2 songs for their comeback, so for their outfit change, they are only given 30 seconds to change.
They chat among themselves about random things like their make-up, their stage performance or even the amount of sleep they got last night.


At 17:30, there was an incident in their dress rehearsal. It turns out their outfit were made too tight that there were no places for their microphone and the receiver. Members Hyomin and Soyeon went on performing 'YaYaYa' without being fully zipped at the back, but good thing they were wearing black shirts to cover their bras.

As this emergency is needed to be fixed, the stylists move the receivers to their hips, except for lead vocalist Soyeon who continues on. 


At 18:30, the girls eat their meal from a restaurant. Hyomin says,"This is better than usual. We usually eat chips or sweets.". But it was noticeable that new member Hwayoung did not eat all of her food. She explains, "I'm tall and Im light-skinned so on camera I look very chubby. So now im dieting.". Since she finished eating early, she uses her time wisely and practices infront of the mirror.

It's already 21:00 and it's time to start the Melon Music Awards. They seem to be nervous. Their first performance was finished without any mistakes, but then problems popped up for their second performance.

For their outfits of 'YaYaYa' Soyeon's zipper in the back couldnt be raised because her receiver was caught in it. She refused to go on stage but she had to since they didnt have much time to cope.

While on stage, she was very worried something might go wrong. But she handles it like a real professional and carries on like nothing is wrong. While exiting, it was clear that Soyeon was hiding her back part and she was almost teary-eyed.


Their day didnt end there as 23:30 came and they had to rehearse with Secret for their special stage on KBS' Music Bank. The members who were feeling sleepy immediately got an energy boost once the music played.

Two days after that the joint performance was held and they did well.

Soyeon lastly expressed their determination, "If you ask us whether we would like to rehearse to be on stage, or sleep for an hour more, we will gladly choose to rehearse to be on stage"

[NEWS] SNSD Voted As 'Artist Of the Year' By Gallup Korea

Popular girl group SNSD has been chosen as the 'Artist Of the Year' by Gallup Korea for the second consecutive year.

Gallup Korea, a research enterprise, asked 3401 people, both men and women, 13-years old and older, 'Who is your favorite singer?'. 31.5% of the total votes went to SNSD, making it the second time they took the number on spot.

Their votes also ranged variously by ages. 43.2% was from voters who were under 20-years of age, 40.6% were in their 20s, 43.1% in their 30s, 33.0% in their 40s and 21.6% in their 50s. With this diversity, they also took the number one spot for the area on the 'singer liked by different age groups'. SNSD ranking in 1st amongst those under 20 to people in their 50s made it clear, once again, that they are 'Korea's singers'.

SNSD's latest single 'Hoot' and previously released 'Oh!' ranked in first and second respectively for 'Most Popular Song of 2010'. Last year, 'Gee' and 'Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)' also ranked in 1st and 2nd.

SNSD won the daesang at the Gold Disk Awards, the Artist of the Year award at the Melon Music Awards, and the trophy for the year-end KBS 'Music Bank' special two years in a row. The addition of becoming 'Artist Of the Year', also for the second year in a row, proves that it is truly the 'girls' golden age'.

[News] Bunny IU clears misunderstanding regarding Super Junior's Shindong

On the recent episode of Inkigayo, IU successfully won her first Mutizen in Inkigayo's Take 7.
However, when IU is speaking her speech for winning the award, Super Junior's Shindong was seen groofing around her.

Fans noticed Super Junior's Shindong behind IU joking around behind her as she made her winning speech. This lead to Super Junior's Leeteuk and 2AM's Changmin pulling him away.
However despite their efforts, Shindong went back behind her, stealing the camera and also pointing towards himself, wanting IU to thank him. But when IU ended her speech without thanking him, he gave a face of unsatisfactory. Fans became protective of IU and said Shindong's behavior was rude and impolite.

If you've forgotten, Here is the video of IU delivering her speech.
Shindong's appearance can be seen around 1:00.




IU spoke up about this controversy on her me2day.
"Bunny Transformation!^^ This is a misunderstanding. Shindong and Super Junior sunbaenims congratulated me more than anyone else. It makes me sad that this has been a huge misunderstanding. Have a good day!"
With her post, she posted a picture on her me2DAY, with her wearing a cute bunny suit.


Fans reaction were positive and commented that it was very cute.
Fortunately, IU cleared this misunderstanding and fans were willing to put aside Shindong's incident.
It may be a small incident as Shindong was just joking around and didn't know that it would cause a misunderstanding. Luckily, everything is fine now.

[NEWS] 101220 Still images released for upcoming drama “Dream High”, Taecyeon & Wooyoung

Still images of upcoming KBS drama "Dream High" were released today, according to a press release by Holym Co. and CJ Media on Monday.

The drama, a joint production between major entertainment agencies KEYEAST, JYP Entertainment and CJ Media, released two group photos that feature the main cast of the drama set to go on air next year.

Holym is the drama production company established through joint investment of KEYEAST which will be in charge of planning and production of the show, and JYPE whose founder and CEO Park Jin-young will cover the musical arrangements.

The new series, which will portray the lives and dreams of talented teenagers attending private performing arts school for singers, is expected to include singing and dance scenes.

In accordance with the story of the drama, the lead characters of the show will be played by actual singers from existing idol groups such as Suzy from girl group miss A, Taecyeon and Wooyoung from boy band 2PM, Eunjung from girl group T-ara and IU, a popular female solo singer.

The drama which will be 16-part Mondays and Tuesdays mini-series expected to kick off on January 3.

Top Korean talenthouse SidusHQ will release a love project calendar featuring all 34 of their stars, according to the agency on Monday.

SidusHQ announced in a press release that the calendar titled "2011 Love Project Hanbok Calendar," including photographs of SidusHQ stars such as Jay Park, Song Joong-ki, Uhm Ki-joon and Jang Hyuk dressed in the Korean traditional costume hanbok, will go on sale starting today till the end of January.

It focuses on the theme of hanbok and hopes to spread the beauty of the clothing worldwide. Also, funds collected from calendar sales will be donated to Compassion Korea to help the less fortunate children around the world.

"The stars of SidusHQ have come together for this calendar project and it is very significant that some of the biggest names in the industry want to share the meaning of hanbok," an official from SidusHQ was quoted as saying.

Founded in 1999 by EBM Production Corporation, SidusHQ focuses on various aspects of the entertainment industry such as managing celebrities, drama and music as well as film content.
