- Green Rose: Episode 1
- Kim Sun-ah eyes sports film for next project
My Princess’s second leads cuddle up Posted: 19 Dec 2010 05:18 AM PST It looks like the second leads in upcoming drama My Princess are getting a sweet backstory of their own, that is before they become entangled in the inevitable love square that’s about to unfold. Here’s a look at Ryu Soo-young and Park Ye-jin as a happy couple, before Kim Tae-hee and Song Seung-heon become the objects of their affections. Ryu Soo-young and Park Ye-jin have actually played lovers once before, in the 2005 drama Next, so this will be a reunion for them as a romantic pair. The photos are adorable, and I hope based on these that their coupledom will be an actual feature of the drama, and not just a convenient backstory. Posted: 18 Dec 2010 08:30 PM PST Here’s #2 in our First Episodes series: 2005′s thriller-revenge-melodrama Green Rose, a 22-episode SBS series which starred Go Soo and Lee Da-hae. I don’t talk about this drama much so you may not have seen this recap coming, but I wanted to mix things up a little and highlight a show that seems to fly under the radar a bit. Although at the time, Green Rose was hardly low-flying; it had solid ratings that surpassed 30% and was extended by 2 episodes (having originally been planned for 20). So what is Green Rose about? At the core you’ve got a young man who becomes the fall guy for something much larger than himself, whose happy life is turned upside-down and devastated, who comes back even stronger to reclaim what he lost. Corporate malfeasance, arson, attempted murder, a frame job, gangsters, industrial espionage, wrong-side-of-the-tracks love, revenge… yep, it’s got ‘em all. The pace is zippy, the hero sympathetic, and after his downtrodden beginnings, his road to revenge is enough to you a warm feeling of satisfaction. Kim Sun-ah eyes sports film for next project Posted: 18 Dec 2010 12:50 PM PST Ever since Kim Sun-ah (City Hall, My Name Is Kim Sam-soon) dropped out of I Am Legend (and thank ye drama gods, really, because she would’ve been So. Wasted. had she taken that role), the industry has been waiting with bated breath for her to choose her next project. It hasn’t been confirmed, but it looks like a sports movie opposite Kim Joo-hyuk (Terroir, Sleeping With the Enemy) is the top contender. The sports-human drama is called Fighting Spirit [투혼], and is the dramatic story of a major league baseball pitcher who falls into a slump, ending up in the minors, who struggles to get back in the game. He puts his wife and kids through hell to do it, and their relationship becomes another battle for them to conquer. If cast, Kim Joo-hyuk will play the talented but short-tempered pitcher, and Kim Sun-ah will play the woman who married him for love, but struggles in the face of keeping their family afloat alone. Personally, I’d rather see Kim Sun-ah play the pitcher, a la A League of Their Own, but that’s just my preference for badass-Kim-Sun-ah. Kim Joo-hyuk has recently completed filming his Korean War film with Jung Ryeo-won, Sleeping With the Enemy, and is looking for his next project. Kim Sun-ah’s last project was last year’s political-romance drama City Hall. Would be great to see her in a film AND a drama in the coming year. Hey, a girl can dream. Fighting Spirit will begin production early next year. Via Osen RELATED POSTS
