Lee Yong-woo romances Yoon Eun-hye in Minidress Posted: 15 Dec 2010 05:01 AM PST His drama Birdie Buddy may have hit the skids, but Lee Yong-woo well be getting right back to work on a new movie — his first — My Black Minidress, playing boyfriend to the film’s star Yoon Eun-hye (My Fair Lady). The movie recently announced its lead quartet of actresses, which in addition to Yoon includes Park Han-byul (Oh My Lady), Cha Ye-ryun (Dr. Champ), and Yoo In-na (Secret Garden). The foursome are college friends who were all in the theater and film department together, and go through the ups and downs of twentysomething life together. At first, I was disappointed with this casting, because while Lee Yong-woo is incredibly pretty to look at, his acting skills barely rate above “solid block of wood.” His scenes in Style were often painful to watch — he had no sense of emotion, line delivery, character awareness — although, to be fair to him, the whole drama was a mess. But upon further thought it seems he may not be the main male lead, given that his character is described as the one who opens Yoon Eun-hye’s eyes to love, but also introduces her to betrayal. Which suggests he’s more of an ex than the love interest. My Black Minidress begins filming in mid-December and aims to release in theaters in March 2011. Via BNT News RELATED POSTS

Mary Stayed Out All Night: Episode 11 Posted: 14 Dec 2010 08:17 PM PST Listen, it doesn’t make any more SENSE, but the pace is up and the cute is up, so we’re in happy territory. I wish the live-in hijinks had begun eons ago, not only because it made more sense back when the contracts were in effect, but because they add a nice layer of conflict and interaction that was sorely needed. Seo-jun continues to be an energy suck, but Jung-in steps up his game, and now the triangle seems to be back in action. Finally. Now if we could just get all three of them to move in together… (...) © girlfriday for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 110 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Posted: 14 Dec 2010 03:55 PM PST MBC’s highly anticipated drama The Duo — which has now confirmed Chun Jung-myung for the lead — has cast its leading lady in Han Ji-hye. The drama tells the story of two boys born on the same day — one noble, one slave — whose fates are switched. On paper, that sounds similar to the poor-boy-swapped-with-rich-boy premise of East of Eden, which happens to be Han’s last drama, although we can surmise (hope) that this drama will probably take a different approach to the story, not least because it’s a sageuk. Han plays the daughter of an upright village schoolteacher, who grows up educated and clever. She’ll get caught in a love triangle (of course) between the two leads, one of whom is played by Chun Jung-myung, the other of whom has not yet been cast. I like the cast so far… I think the third lead will tip me over into full excitement mode if he’s good, or drop me back down to earth if he’s not. Since appearing in Eden, Han has spent some time away from her acting by pursuing a shoe designing endeavor, publishing an essay book, and getting married. This’ll be her first project since her September wedding. Han Ji-hye has given verbal agreement to appear in The Duo (contract pending), which’ll be her first traditional sageuk series but not her first time in a period project; she acted in the stylized Lee Jun-ik film Like the Moon Escaping From Clouds, which was released earlier this year. Daddy’s Girl cast donates half-ton of rice to charity Posted: 14 Dec 2010 10:48 AM PST At the time of its pre-premiere press conference last month, cast members of SBS’s Monday-Tuesday drama It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl — namely, series lead Moon Chae-won, Super Junior’s Donghae, and CN Blue’s Minhyuk (all pictured above) — had been the recipients of rice donations intended for charity from their fans. These have now been given to charitable organizations in the stars’ names. All total, the rice donations amounted to 500 kg, and the producers donated 250 kg last weekend to a humanitarian organization for the disabled, Hanbeot. The other half was donated to Yeontan Bank, a nonprofit that provides coal briquettes for heating to those who can’t afford to buy it.
