| Kang Ji-sub makes sageuk debut in The Duo Posted: 20 Dec 2010 04:43 AM PST Another actor has been added to The Duo, MBC’s upcoming buzz project: Kang Ji-sub, who joins castmates Chun Jung-myung, Han Ji-hye, and Lee Sang-yoon in the switched-at-birth sageuk drama where boys born to a nobleman and a slave are swapped and grow up living each other’s lives. Kang Ji-sub, the 29-year-old actor of Fine Windy Day and Women in the Sun, will play Chun-dong’s (Chun Jung-myung) only friend in the drama, and is also the leader of a gang that is dominant in the region. Described as extremely loyal, he’s a man who’ll risk his life for his friend. Kang debuted in 2005′s Love In Heaven, and will be making his first foray into the sageuk genre with The Duo. He’s currently busy training in martial arts for what I anticipate will be many action scenes. Hmm, looks like there are a number of sageuk newbs in this drama, although that’s not automatically a bad thing… The Duo will air in February, after the recently extended Queen of Reversals wraps. | Posted: 19 Dec 2010 06:37 PM PST Ah, finally the break I’ve been waiting for! After all the Brooding, that is. (There is a LOT of it.) Not that I haven’t been enjoying the heck out of Secret Garden, but plotwise we’ve been in slower territory for the past couple episodes, and it’s about time that things shifted. Power dynamics slide around and set us up for some potentially very interesting things in the near future. (I hope.) | Choi Kang-hee’s sexy assassin transformation Posted: 19 Dec 2010 11:06 AM PST What is Choi Kang-hee doing as a scantily-clad assassin on the cover of a comic book? It’s apparently how Lee Seon-kyun‘s character imagines her, when he uses her as inspiration for his adult comic in their film Petty Romance. Well, we know what HE’s got on his mind. But my favorite part isn’t even the machine gun in one hand and the rose in the other, or the latex dress the size of a napkin, (Because really, the actual Choi Kang-hee wore less in the real-life posters for the film. Let’s be honest.) but the quasi-transliterated title. The meaning of the title [킬러본색] is Killer’s True Nature, or Killer Nature, but it’s written in English as Killer Born Sex, which are homophones for the title that have nothing to do with the meaning of the words. It makes me laugh though, because it’s clearly trying to be a sexy-sounding title, ending with a mash-up of words that almost makes sense as a phrase. Almost.
