The cursing controversy in the “Fugitive Plan B’!

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 12:29 PM PDT

Viewers complained about curse words that have appeared in the popular KBS drama.

In the “Fugitive Plan B“  episode which aired on October 28th, there was an action scene where Rain had to fight a few detectives in order to escape.

The problems were the curse words with the following phrases: "Ah XX", "Ah XX"(words omitted)

The words the detectives actually shouted weren't censored in the episode. A writer of the drama explained,"According to the script, they shouldn't say any cuss words".

Audiences commented:

 "I feel unhappy about that"

"It wasn't appropriate for public TV"

"They should pay more attention during the editing process".

Are you annoyed by the occurrence of foul language in dramas?

Girls’ Generation’s new MV is a “Hoot”

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 01:12 AM PDT

All you SONE out there, the wait is over~

Kicking off their comeback with the release of this music video, Girls’ Generation follows the formula of success. I find that the “Hoot” MV to be really similar to the structure of “Genie,” where the girls are divided into different themed groups of three and placed into an isolated space, creating a voyeuristic feel to it (although not so much a male fantasy as “Genie”). Going for more of a girl audience, Super Junior‘s Si-won makes a very appreciated appearance as a sleek undercover agent.

Choreography is simple, but with just the right easy to imitate signature move – the shooting of an arrow. I find it funny that their whole theme of Bond girls and cowgirls really coincides more with guns, but their main choreography copies an archer.

I personally love the outfits they wear in the whole group shots. Not too overly sexualized, but very cute, retro, and indeed sexy.

Looking forward to their stage comeback this weekend~!

[PS! Fan Favorite] Girls’ Generation

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 12:48 AM PDT

Oh my, there’s just so many to choose from…

So if you haven’t already checked out the first Fan Favorite, click away here~

Here is Girls’ Generation latest single, “Hoot,” for your listening pleasure while you breeze through these words.

If you don’t know what’s going on, I’m just going to copy and paste from the previous one explaining what all of this is…

POPSEOUL! possesses a different demographic with different tastes from different backgrounds, and that's what I'm curious about (and I hope you're curious too!). I want to see which group members get the most love in PS! Land. It may contrast dramatically from the mainstream taste, or your favorites may align with Korea's, but whatevers. No pressure, no expectation, just anticipation.

We will have a poll at the end of this post, but the results will be unknown until the end of the cycle (approximately a week, if I'm good). This isn't a survey to see who POPSEOUL! should cover more (we're not blatantly pandering like that); it's just a curiosity experiment.

Feel free to express your love in the comments. No need to bash the other members; we're promoting love here. They're (i.e. the group members) all in this together, and so are we.

Part of me wanted to alternate genders for these features, but Girls’ Generation‘s comeback is just around the corner. Part of my inspiration for starting this Fan Favorite feature was to find out precisely which SNSD girl the POPSEOUL! readership loved the most. There’s so many of them! They all have different strengths and appeals, I wouldn’t even know where to begin to figure out who the majority of POPSEOUL! liked. As the idol girl group with the most fanfare and criticism, its difficult not to be curious.

I’m just going to list them off by descending age. Rather than coming up with trite generalizations, I’m just going to give my personal understanding and positive perceptions of each member (which still might come out trite, no guarantees!). You can take my thoughts into consideration, but I’m sure you have your own convictions.

The de facto leader of this fair harem, Tae-yeon, may have questionable leadership qualifications (aside from seniority), but there’s no doubt that she has a voice to put the rest of the girls in their places. When she’s putting on her normal face, it makes me want to pat her on the head, but when she belts out those notes, I’m can’t help but think, “You are totally carrying this group with your voice.”

American girl Jessica exudes confidence in my mind, not the kind of confidence or arrogance that stands out in particular, but you can tell she is very comfortable in her own skin and knows exactly who she is catering to, while still remaining aloof. She also has a fairly respectable set of pipes, although I must admit sometimes the sound of her singing voice isn’t my favorite.

Nepotism works in the case of Sunny. You can tell she has put a lot of thought and work into being an idol, especially one of SME caliber. She’s fairly adequate on all levels (voice, dance, sex appeal, aegyo, etc.) and I notice the most improvement in her. Tiffany seems to be a very polarizing figure: I’ve heard a lot of love and hate for this girl. She puts on a very superficial, exaggerated image of likability sometimes, but her smiling expression never fails to look genuine and to charm. Tiffany has a good singing voice, worthy of being one of the main vocalists of SNSD. I find that her life story and the antagonism surrounding her makes Tiffany the most humanized member of SNSD.

Criticism around Hyo-yeon‘s physical appearance is disheartening at times because she has loads of dancing charisma and talent. Hopefully, her “less than perfect” looks do not undermine her dancing queen status.

If there is one member of SNSD that epitomized sensuality, it is Yu-ri. It’s not a sexual or erotic sensuality though. It’s that smoldering look in her eyes, her luscious brown locks, and her voluptuous figure. Oh my, I have a girl crush. Yu-ri’s killer dancing skills also further my aesthetic appreciation and admiration.

If SNSD is all looks, Soo-young is that winning personality that keeps you in past the first flash of thigh impression. As the most genuine member in my eyes, Soo-young isn’t afraid to put herself out there, look silly, and say whatever comes to mind. Soo-young possesses a very similar self-awareness to Jessica, but Soo-young does physically stand out possessing the most conventional beauty and great height in the group. She is also part of the killer dancing trio of Girls’ Generation, making her my personal favorite.

Yoo-na may be plastic fantastic, but I cannot argue with the results. Her look and persona is flexible, although staying within the range of girl-next-door to closet sexpot. I don’t really care about whatever limited talents she has, and I don’t think anyone else does either.

Seo-hyun isn’t just SNSD’s token maknae, she is the maknae that all other maknaes only wish they could be. Forever young and they don’t let you forget it, Seo-hyun maintains her pure and wholesome image, while still bringing just the right pinches of spice. Seo-hyun is like a virgin cocktail, with all the trappings of something dangerous and edgy, but she’s a totally innocent indulgence. I was actually surprised to find out that this angel faced girl could sing…and well to boot!

Blah blah blah. You know who you like, go ahead and vote! Remember you won’t be able to see the results yet until I decide this thing is over. Let the suspense grip you!

Be sure to look out for the next PS! Fan Favorite to find out which member gets the most love in PS! Land, as well as a new group to shower with love.

[POPFirst] Super Junior’s ELFs are included in the “I Will Be There” album!

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 06:53 PM PDT

"Looking for the Day" is the special song Choi Si-won is sharing with his favorite ELFs!

The company’s Twitter states:

“Did you know that @3rdWaveMusic made the song ‘Looking for the Day’ w/ @siwon407 bc he wanted to make a blessing song for SUJU Elfs?”

Si-won wanted to do something for his fans so he has been performing this song on every  Super Show 3 tour date!

Now, are you curious about the entire "I Will Be There" album? If you stressed, tensed, and need something to help you relax….all while lifting your spirits. This album is for you!  Christian and Non-Christians alike will enjoy the positive and uplifting messages conveyed in each song.

Read POPSEOUL's detailed explanation of 3rdWaveMusic's newest release "I Will Be There" below:

1 Everything to Me – featuring VanNess Wu

This is a song about realizing what the most important thing in life is. VanNess helps us understand that his religion means more to him than anything else in the world. His soft vocals accompanied with the light rock music are almost like a sweet lullaby.

2 Awesome God

A true worship song! It has an upbeat melody that anyone can dance to."Awesome God" does not need an explanation. The title describes it all. This track is one of the true stand out songs on the album.

3 Altar of Praise- featuring American CCM artists Lenny LeBlanc and Michael O'Brien

3rdWave slows things down with this ballad like single. "Altar of Praise" is asking the Holy Trinity (Christians' belief system of the existence of God) if their offerings are worthy. They sing this track with earnest and deep emotion.

4.  I Will Be There

"I Will Be There" talks about the assurance of one's religion helping them in overcoming loneliness and mending a broken heart. It describes everlasting love for the listener.

5  You Created Me

Number 2 on my favorites list! Do you know why you were created? Brian Joo believes he knows the reason he exists. The singer explains his entire existence is to serve God. Also, he refers to his Savior/Redeemer as his friend whom he loves.

6. Sweetest Name-featuring Super Junior's Choi Si-won

Choi S-won acknowledges his God as worthy of receiving all praise. He is joined by other very talented 3rdWave singers in praising the "Sweetest Name".

7. I Stand

This song represents standing for what you truly believe in. The lead vocalists talk about offering their gifts (talents) and everything to their God.

8 Looking for the Day

Choi Si-won's special song for ELFs.

This track explains one's purpose in life. It is a song of anticipation for the day to praise.

9 Jesus is Coming Back

3rdWave's artists form a choir to perform the upbeat rock song about Christ's second coming. They express their joy to join him in heaven one day.

10 Closet Song

What do you desire? This song talks about one's desire to develop a close relationship with their Savior and Lord. This is the true sweet ballad of the entire album. The smooth vocals and calming music can ease anyone's tense nerves.

11  I Stand – (Alternate Version)

This version of "I Stand" has the same message as track number 7. However, the vocalist is only accompanied by acoustic music.

What do you think?

In addition, to these great tracks… 3rdWave has new surprises and updates for their music lovers. IWIN (the charity they support to aid Africa children) will have a press release next week. Super Junior member Choi Si-won is even planning to be apart of an upcoming holiday surprise for 3rdWave. Details about this project have not been released to the public yet.

After reading about the album and the company updates, are you wondering what is 3rdWaveMusic's real purpose in the music industry.

They are a Christian company headed by Pastor John Lee. He wants his company to spread the love of God through their actions, words, and music.

Pastor John Lee is quoted stating the following about their purpose:

"Our company is a music company that presently uses Asian pop stars to promote people to get active in Social Causes.  We believe in helping artists becoming role models so to build a platform for artists like Brian, Si-won, and Van to share our cause.  We have others in the pipeline but its top secret and we can’t get it out."

Will your favorite recording artists be the next to be washed in the healing musical waters of the 3rdWave?  Maybe.

Until then, make sure you check out their new album 'I Will be There" on 3rdWave.org and Itunes.
