Go Soo and Shin Ha-kyun’s new movie Posted: 18 Oct 2010 05:28 AM PDT Principle photography is underway for Go Soo‘s second film this year, upcoming war drama Before the Hills, alongside big-screen veteran Shin Ha-kyun (Festival, Cafe Noir). They’ll be playing soldiers who get taken by the North as prisoners of war, and will form an opposition force against their captors. Before the Hills is the third feature film by director Jang Hoon, who helmed this year’s Secret Reunion, starring Song Kang-ho and Kang Dong-won. The screenplay was written by Park Sang-yeon, of MBC’s mega-hit, Queen Seon-deok. Well, I definitely see it going for the dramatic highs and lows, then. Posted: 17 Oct 2010 08:20 PM PDT This was just insane. It seems that it isn’t springtime only at home; in dramaland I’m experiencing similar weather conditions. When I watch this drama, I’m not exhausted by the heat of intricate, full of heart-tugging events or the coldness of puzzling characters who show no emotion at all. Dr. Champ is shaping up to be that squee-free relaxing drama that won’t kill you with the suspense, but that is extremely easy to get fond of. That, if they don’t mess up. Posted: 17 Oct 2010 03:45 PM PDT Up-and-comer Lee Shi-young has been making waves as the resident haughty second lead in MBC’s Playful Kiss, doing a fantastic job of being strangle-worthy and yet…completely endearing in her own right. She seems to have caught the attention of the film industry as well, scoring a headlining role in a new comedy. The title of the film, Dangerous Meeting, isn’t as dark as it sounds. The “meeting” is an arranged meeting between the families of a bride and groom. The story centers around a young man and woman caught between two warring fathers, and their warring clans. Sounds like a Korean Meet the Fockers, with more outright disdain. (...) © girlfriday for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 38 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Queen of Reversals kicks off tomorrow Posted: 17 Oct 2010 11:37 AM PDT MBC’s new drama Queen of Reversals premieres tomorrow, bringing more romantic-comedy energy to Mondays and Tuesdays. As with its predecessor drama Queen of Housewives, the initial premise didn’t really engage me, but once I’ve seen a few clips I find myself enjoying the tone and humor of the show. At least as much as I can see from the previews (watch below). In fact, I wonder if I might even prefer this series to the original; I suspect it will hinge upon my response to the main character, played by Kim Nam-joo. I found Housewives surprisingly fun, but could never get over my distaste for the main character. Here, however, Kim plays a totally different type; her Hwang Tae-hee is a dedicated careerwoman and “gold miss,” aka a professional woman who has remained single into her thirties.
