Playful Kiss: Episode 16 (Final) Posted: 21 Oct 2010 08:23 PM PDT Show, I didn’t expect you to take the snail’s pace thing quite so literally. But here we are in the finale, and well, loose ends get tied, double-knotted, and bow-tied for good measure. It’s an entire episode of getting everyone’s ducks in a row, with not even a hint of conflict to drive us home. But then, if we’re comparing it to Episode 15′s idea of conflict, I should just thank my lucky stars that no Lee Da-hae Lite harlot showed up in this one. The end is nigh. Will Robot Boy get his heart? Will Ha-ni become a nurse? Will we end on a kiss to end all kisses? (...) © girlfriday for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 115 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Jang Geun-seok rocks out for Mary Posted: 21 Oct 2010 06:20 PM PDT KBS drama Mary Stayed Out All Night, set to air next month, will be Jang Geun-seok‘s fifth time playing a musician. Most of those previous instances featured him as the leader in a band, and this time’s no different: He plays Mu-gyul, the free-spirited lead singer of a Hongdae indie band. (Those other roles were: a rock band singer in Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do, a rock band singer in The Happy Life, an idol band singer in You’re Beautiful, and a talented trumpeter in Beethoven Virus. I might be more worried about Jang being typecast if he were a mediocre actor, but he’s shown a good amount of range despite his still-tender years (he’s 23), whether he’s portraying youthful innocence, hauteur, boyishness, or criminal tendencies.) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 88 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Jeon Ji-hyun flies solo, considers next film role Posted: 21 Oct 2010 03:40 PM PDT Yet more talk of a Jeon Ji-hyun project is being bandied about — I swear, most times there’s more speculation about her potential projects than there is actual discussion OF her projects. This one (if it goes through) would be Jeon’s first project after parting ways from her longtime management, Sidus HQ, and going solo with her own company. This one is a movie called Falling In Love, which tells “a dangerous love story” of a married woman. Her rep stated that she is considering this project positively, but hasn’t made a final decision; she is also looking at a couple other possibilities. Falling In Love will be directed by Lee Jae-yong of Untold Scandal, the Joseon-era spin on Dangerous Liaisons; raunchy teen sex comedy Dasepo Naughty Girls, as if you couldn’t tell from the title (which I actually thought was kinda fun, though meandering); and the mock docu-reality film Actresses. After making a Hollywood crossover attempt, Blood: The Last Vampire, she shot the film adaptation of Snow Flower and the Secret Fan earlier this year. (Her last Korean film was back in 2008 with Hwang Jung-min, The Man Who Was Superman.) Via Star News RELATED POSTS

A deluge of new stills from Secret Garden Posted: 21 Oct 2010 10:55 AM PDT Admittedly, I don’t have high expectations for SBS’s body-swapping fantasy-romantic-melo-comedy (woo, genre mishmash overload!) Secret Garden, despite liking the main cast (Hyun Bin, Ha Ji-won, Yoon Sang-hyun, Kim Sa-rang, Philip Lee). And I am not a fan of the On Air and Lovers writer-PD pairing. But I’m not writing it off yet, because body-swapping hijinks can yield some interesting results, such as the wonderfully funny and heartfelt 2008 Yoon Kye-sang offering, Who Are You?, which surprised me by being so much better than I thought it would be. There was also 2006′s comedy Please Come Back, Soon-ae, which was light and amusing. (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 79 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
