[News] TVXQ Trio JYJ ‘Ayyy Girl’ Tops Music Charts Soon After Its Public Release

TVXQ three members Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun who formed new unit JYJ released their song 'Ayyy Girl' which is ranked 1st at Monkey3 chart.

As soon as 'Ayyy Girl' was released to public on the 14th midnight, the song rose to 1st place at music website Monkey3 real time chart until 10:00 am when song 'Instinctively' by Kang Seung Yoon climbed up and stole the 1st place until now.

Chief of Business Magazine said, "There have been a lot of inquiries and requests for JYJ album release. This 1st place result only shows their staying power in music industry."

'Ayyy Girl' is the title song of JYJ global album 'The Beginning' which entire songs in the album are recorded in English. In this song JYJ shows different trend than strong hip hop beats, sweet, and stylish style during their TVXQ period.

'The first step journey towards the world stage' is the meaning that includes in this first world wide album. 'The Beginning' consists of 7 songs with title track 'Ayyy Girl', as well as Jaejoong's self composed song 'Still in Love', Yoochun's 'I Love You', Junsu's 'I Can Soar', and 3 remixes.

[News] Lee named best actor at Tokyo Drama Awards

Korean actor Lee Byung-hun will be named the Best Actor in Asia at the Tokyo Drama Awards, according to his agency BH Entertainment, Wednesday.

The 40-year-actor has become the first to win the award, which was set up for the event this year.

The drama ``IRIS'', which starred Lee and fellow actress Kim Tae-hee, will also receive the Best Foreign Drama award at the annual event.

``The Best Actor in Asia award was made to celebrate an actor's outstanding performance and contribution, who appeared in a foreign work,'' the Tokyo Drama Awards organizing committee said.

``Lee was appreciated for not only his acting in the drama `IRIS,' but also for the fact that the series has received acclaim from countries that aired the show,'' the committee added.

Lee has had a wild ride for the couple of past years, enjoying paise and support from both fans and the entertainment and film industry. The actor appeared in the hit drama ``IRIS'' and also worked with Hollywood stars Sienna Miller, Channing Tatum and Dennis Quaid for the blockbuster film ``G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra'' last year. He also won Best Actor in a Hallyu Drama category at the Seoul Drama Awards in September.

Lee will attend the ceremony to receive the award on Oct. 25.

BoA made a surprising confession that if she went back to time, she wanted to be a member of Girls Generations (SNSD).

BoA was a guest at the latest recording for KBS "Sketchbook". BoA has been part of SM Entertainment since she was in Grade 6, she was that young when she started as a trainee. She was asked, "If you were to take a time machine back when you were 13 years old, what decision will you change?", she answered, "I would have not become BoA, I would have become a member of Girls Generations" giving such a surprising answer.

She followed, "I have been promoting oversea's and doing it alone has become very difficult". "Now, SNSD has better facilities to practice, When I was a trainee I used to practice in the basement".

Male group Super Junior's Donghae is expected to appear in SBS new Monday Tuesday drama "It'okay, Daddy's daughter" as a lead character.

Donghae is finalizing the contract to play the role of Wook Gi in the drama, "It'okay, Daddy's daughter" slated to air on November 22nd.

On the 14th, a SBS drama representative told Moneytoday Star News, "we are planning to cast Donghae in the leading role."

Rainbow's agency dismisses allegations and suspicions that member JaeKyung underwent plastic surgery.

DSP Entertainment said on a press release on the 14th, "It is not true that JaeKyung from Rainbow took Plastic Surgery".

There have been claims from a plastic surgeon that JaeKyung took plastic surgery and that the Hospital the plastic surgeon comes from has been using JaeKyung's image for their huge commercial to promote their hospital. DSP Entertainment said, "What they did greatly hurt the image of JaeKyung".

2am member Jo Kwon made a confession that a beard does not grow on his face even if he does not shave.

On the latest episode of "Mnet Beatles Code" 2am's Jo Kwon was a guest and he revealed that a beard does not grow on his face at all. He said, "I am a man right? Even if I do not shave at all, a beard never grows on my face". He also revealed that his waist size is 26 inches only.

Also, Jo Kwon told his story about auditioning in JYP. He was chosen to be a member of 2am after 8 years of being a trainee. It took him a long time of practice and hard work to debut as an artist.

Jo Kwon recalled the hard times when he was a trainee, "Before I debuted, my parents were not very supportive of me being a singer, The environment at home was not good but I have a strong desire to be a singer and they already took care of me for a long time, so I just went quietly" He said also saying he was grateful for his parents.

He thanked his parents for taking care of him especially his mother and JYP. It took a long time for Jo Kwon to debut and he thanked his parents for waiting patiently for him to reach his dream.

Korean rap duo Supreme Team and boy band SHINee scored the top spot on Gaon charts during the week of October 3 to 9.

According to data released by Gaon on Thursday, the latest song "Then Then Then" by Supreme Team took the No. 1 spot on the single charts, making an incredible 22-spot job to first place.

Supreme Team made their debut with the first mini-album "Supreme Team Guide to Excellent Adventure" in 2009. They have been promoting their latest release "Ames Room."

Meanwhile, SHINee's repackaged second record "Hello" entered the top spot on Gaon's album chart and other new releases "Mastermind" from BEAST and "Break Time" from U-Kiss placed at No. 2 and 3, respectively, during the second week of October.

This time it's yes24 (main book/cds/dvd online shop in Korea) that announced the release of super show 2 DVD.
There is no picture, price or extra information but the release date is still october 31st!

It's the second site announcing it (and I personally trust yes24 more, also in a tweet to one of our members, yesasia also confirmed there would be a super show 2 DVD by the end of the month)

So we can say this time it's 99% sure (Will always have a doubt until I see a picture).

[News] JYJ Sells a Record-Breaking 520,000 Pre-Orders of The Beginning

JYJ's first album, The Beginning, has surpassed pre-orders of 520,000 cds.

JYJ's distributor, Warner Music Korea, says that the production of more than "99,999 limited edition copies, 300,000 special edition copies and 220,000 regular edition copies" and supplying retailers were what caused the delay in the release.

JYJ was able to feel the explosion of interest from fans when they were preparing for the special pre-orders which has since sold out. They are still getting interest in the special pre-orders.

The general album debuted today and the special editions will be released on October 18th.

Warner Music went on to say that, "JYJ who has 520,000 copies just in pre-orders, will give the boost that the sluggish music market needs."

With so much talk about SME Collaborating with James Cameron, the director of the 3D movie, "Avatar", on various Samsung 3D projects for quite some time now. It seems like some of these projects are those seen in the preview and the SM TOWN 2010 LIVE CONCERT inLA.

SM Academy(Also known as Starlight Academy previously) is the academy for aspiring entertainers in K-entertainment. It is owned by SM but it is ran as a separate entity and enrolling in the academy does not give you any advantage to become an SM trainee(The academy does give its outstanding students opportunities to participate in some internal SM events like showcases).

The president of SM Academy Lee Solim, was asked who was her most memorable student over the years.

"To answer who was the most memorable student, SNSD Taeyeon was the most memorable. When Taeyeon was in 2nd year of middle school, she showed up holding her dad's hand. Considering she's from Jeonju and in middle school she was too young, and she had to be accompanied by her dad. Her dad ran an eyeglasses shop and he told me this. He does not plan to have her become an entertainer or a singer, he knew very well how difficult that was. And it would be tiring for him to drive her up here each Sunday so he told me to persuade her to give up if I thought she had no basic talent and it wouldn't work out for her.

So I told him 'Mr Kim, then we shall check out her singing'. And she sang, and well, she wasn't that good like she is now. But her voice was clean. If she works hard she can do well, that's what I felt. I asked Taeyeon there and she said she practices alone by singing along to songs on her computer. The child was too young I wasn't sure how to set up her practice routines. But I asked her if she can work hard and she replied that she can work hard. So I told her dad 'It may be hard for you but the child loves to sing, and even if I make her quit here she will continue on her own. She has gleaming eyes, she has a good voice why don't we let her practice here for six months or a year and see how it goes.' So her dad brought her from Jeonju every Sunday and he waited until the evening while she received the lessons then took her home. He labored liked that for a year."


"I think a bit of a twist of fortune is needed for a person to move on to better things, at that time Taeyeon won first place in Singing Jjang category at the SM Youth Best Competition and received a contract. During the last semester, one of our instructors 'The One' who was the vocal trainer, featured Taeyeon in his song (You Bring Me Joy) since she worked so hard for the year and she had good voice. The song came out great and with good responses she moved on to SM. There she improved so much. She worked hard too. And she lost lot of weight. SNSD Taeyeon is the one who is most memorable."

2nd year middle school student 'Kim Taeyeon' was enrolled in the Vocal Program at the Academy then in 2004 received her contract with SM. After 3 years of training she would debut officially as 'SoNyuhShiDae'.

These are screencaps from Taeyeon's debut interview video, and they seem to be from the SM trainee showcases that SM always teases us about but never releases. The showcase held in September 2006 had a performance from Taeyeon, she sang a cover of Onitsuka Chihiro's Gekkou(Moonlight), this legendary performance is probably the one most requested by Ksones for SM to release.
