Yoo Ah-in celebrates his birthday on set Posted: 06 Oct 2010 06:55 AM PDT Everyone’s favorite man in black (at least this drama season), Yoo Ah-in, turned 24 (or 25 by Korean standards) on October 6, and celebrated the occasion on the set of his current drama, the lovable Sungkyungkwan Scandal. Yoo was surprised on the morning of the 6th while in the midst of filming. He was shooting with co-star Song Joong-ki, who presented him with his birthday cake, and received a rendition of happy birthday from the crew. Yoo explained that he hadn’t been expecting this at all, and thanked everyone for taking the effort when they’re all tired and busy with work. He added, “I’ll remember this birthday for a long time, more than any other year.” (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 17 comments | Add to del.icio.us |

Kim Kang-woo’s photo spreads for Arena and Sure Posted: 05 Oct 2010 07:40 PM PDT Kim Kang-woo, of the recent noir thriller Invincible, is featured in two magazine spreads for October. And rawr, this newlywed actor is looking mighty fine in both of them. First off, he is pictured in a… woodshed?… for Arena magazine, poised to cut through the ropes binding his wrists. The shoot adopts a stylized noir approach with the dark background, heavy shadows, and bright contrast lighting. On the other hand, the second shoot for Sure is more conventional. Media attention for Mary Stayed Out All Night’s fan-made posters Posted: 05 Oct 2010 04:00 PM PDT Every drama’s got its share of fan-made art, but the slew of posters for upcoming trendy drama Mary Stayed Out All Night have hit the big time. The Korean media is taking notice of fansites that have put together posters that not only look professional, but also parody other dramas and films. Sohn Ye-jin and Lee Min-ki’s chilling romance Posted: 05 Oct 2010 10:51 AM PDT Sohn Ye-jin and Lee Min-ki will be pairing up in the movie Chilling Romance [오싹한 연애, a working title], in which she plays a woman who can see ghosts. She has cut herself off entirely from the rest of the world, but a romance develops with Lee’s character, who wants to protect her. A rep from Sohn’s management explained that’s she’d fallen in love with the script early on and made the statement that she is “looking favorably” at the project. It’s a cautious way of saying that her side hasn’t finalized things yet, but things look good. I’m still trying to picture these two in a romance together — it’s a little hazy in my mind, but I do love both actors. I can see Sohn Ye-jin nailing the vulnerability and complexity of a woman with unwanted supernatural powers. And Lee Min-ki as a devoted protector? Sign me up. Sohn’s last project was the MBC romantic comedy Personal Taste with Lee Min-ho, where she played a cute, bumbling woman who falls in love with his perfectionist character, whom she initially mistakes for being gay. Meanwhile, Lee Min-ki had a very busy last year, with indie movie Oishii Man, thriller A Million, and the box-office blockbuster Haeundae. It looks like the next year will be equally busy for him: He’s busily filming Quick, an action comedy in which he plays a deliveryman who accidentally comes into possession of a bomb. He’ll begin shooting Road to Utah in California later this month, in which he plays a drifter who meets a woman in LA and embarks on a road trip with her. Via OSEN RELATED POSTS
