Movie posters for bubbly romance Finding Kim Jae-wook

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 05:00 AM PDT

There can never be too many good frothy-cute romantic comedies out there, as far as I’m concerned (operative word being good), so I’m looking forward to the upcoming movie Finding Kim Jong-wook, which stars two very talented and charismatic actors, Im Soo-jung (I’m Sorry, I Love You) and Gong Yoo (Coffee Prince). The movie has released its first posters, pictured here.

The film is adapted from an original musical of the same name, which premiered in 2006 and became a hit with audiences. The plot kicks off when the heroine (Im Soo-jung), decides to find the first love for whom she still pines, and becomes a client of Gong Yoo, who runs a service dedicated to finding your first love.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal: Episode 16

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 08:35 PM PDT

Dear red pill‘s erratically beating heart,

Be still. Else you’ll overexert yourself and fail me. And I need you to be strong for the remaining stretch, to be a pillar through the love, angst, sadness and happiness forthcoming. Besides, “heart failure due to excessive excitement over cute love scenes” as the cause of death is just plain embarrassing.

Love, red pill

Home Sweet Home starts off with brisk story, slow ratings

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 04:24 PM PDT

It was a slowish beginning, ratings-wise, for MBC’s new “Korean Desperate Housewives” series Home Sweet Home, which I’d previously called by its literal translation, My Happy Home. Wednesday’s premiere improved upon its predecessor, Playful Kiss (which averaged 3.5% for its 16-episode run), but not by much, drawing a 6.4%.

On the other hand, initial evaluations of the first hour were positive for the strong acting skills of its cast, and it looks like it has carved out a niche with 30-something women viewers, among whom the rating share was 19%. Not bad, considering ajummas also love Go Hyun-jung, who headlines competitor drama Daemul. (On the same day, Daemul held its lead with a 25.5%, a few points lower than its high, while KBS’s Runaway Plan B inched up a few points to 12.8%.)

Yoon Jin-seo models for fragrance ad

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 10:49 AM PDT

Yoon Jin-seo has my favorite storyline in Runaway Plan B, and since she’s playing a cop on the move, she doesn’t get much chance to dress up in the drama — although how she runs around and does any sort of action in killer heels is beyond me — so I love seeing her looking so fresh and pretty for an ad campaign, for The First Fragrance by Lolita Lempicka.
