New daily drama Smile, Dong-hae premieres this week Posted: 03 Oct 2010 06:00 AM PDT Smile, Dong-hae is KBS’s new daily drama starring Ji Chang-wook (Sons of Sol Pharmacy) in his first starring role. Here are a whole slew of stills from the show, which premieres this week. Ji plays a Dong-hae, a Korean-American short-track speed skater who is selected to be on the U.S. national team. This means that Ji has been busy training under a former national speed skater in order to lend those scenes as much realism as possible, spending four to five hours daily at the ice rink. Dong-hae goes to Korea to find his girlfriend (Park Jung-ah), but after arriving in Korea, he is “betrayed” by her and then embarks on a new romance with Three Brothers‘s Oh Ji-eun. He also seeks out the father he never knew, and in the process he develops relationships with other people and forms a different kind of family. Posted: 02 Oct 2010 08:17 PM PDT Looks like JB’s got some competition in the curly-bedhead-making department! Much of the usual upbeat tone is tamped down in this episode, due to a big misunderstanding that, well, nobody but Ha-ni believes. But I’ll let that plot point go, since it’s nice to have some emotional changes, as Ha-ni struggles to let Seung-jo go, her friends step up to defend her, and Seung-jo struggles to feel feelings. Kim Ji-hoon’s last photo shoot Posted: 02 Oct 2010 04:01 PM PDT Army enlistment is just a few days away for Kim Ji-hoon (sadness!), who has released this last photo spread, which comes from the October issue of Hello TV magazine. Kim recently wrapped filming on his latest drama, the sci-fi historical cable series Joseon X-Files, on September 28. Prior to that he took on a comedic theater role in University of Laughs. He plans to hold his last fanmeeting in Seoul on October 3, and enlists the next day. (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 54 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
It’s all smiles behind the scenes of Playful Kiss Posted: 02 Oct 2010 11:19 AM PDT I always enjoy seeing a happy cast behind the scenes of their drama (especially if it’s an angsty show), and there are lots of smiling faces in these shots of the set of Playful Kiss. You’ll recognize the photos as coming from the last two weeks’ episodes with the couple tees, hospital scene, and tennis club. The show hasn’t had the happiest ratings run, but it’s hanging in there with a cute, heartwarming story that owes much of its charm to its gem of an actress in Jung So-min. (I still can’t bring myself to say that Kim Hyun-joong is acting well, but thankfully in this role he manages to make up for that technical lack with personal appeal. His character is loads of fun to watch and his interactions with Ha-ni are growing sweeter by the day. Well, when he’s not pulling back in his infuriating but oh-so-realistic way. Boys!)
