Life Is Beautiful cuts out gay vows, angers writer Posted: 25 Oct 2010 05:05 AM PDT SBS’s weekend drama Life Is Beautiful is perhaps most notable for the gay couple at its center, played by Song Chang-eui and Lee Sang-woo. The October 23 broadcast, however, edited out a key moment for them that has brought on a flood of viewer complaints and has angered writer Kim Soo-hyun, who, by the way, is one of the most well-known and respected drama writers in the country. The scene that should have been aired features the abovementioned couple, Tae-sub and Kyung-soo, speaking their commitment vows to each other in a church. The two had just attended the wedding of Ho-sub (Lee Sang-yoon) and Yeon-joo (Nam Sang-mi, and take a quiet moment to speak their devotion to each other. Apparently the Jeju Island church where they filmed the scene voiced a complaint and requested that filming be halted. They asked for the producers to remove all dialogue from that part, after which filming proceeded wordlessly. Producers had intended to air the scene as filmed but the result hardly had the intended effect. (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 17 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
Posted: 24 Oct 2010 08:13 PM PDT This drama’s one word definition is: adorable. I can't really say what happens in each episode, but I can sure say that I'm left with indescribable warmth and a silly smile. I guess that's love, the utopian, the juvenile, the immature love that you know won't be the definitive. However, many years in the future, when you look back, you'll say "Oh, I was so young and foolishly loveholic. So wonderful times." The boys of It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl Posted: 24 Oct 2010 01:44 PM PDT Now that we know Moon Chae-won will head the upcoming SBS drama It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl, it’s time to turn our attention to the boys. All are relative newbies to the acting sphere, two of them coming from the idol-pop-star world (gulp), but let’s hope they surprise us with hitherto-untapped acting talent. Daddy’s Girl features an immature young woman named Chae-ryung, played by Moon Chae-won, who’s forced to grow up when an accident throws her household into ruin. Melo-thriller My Happy Home premieres this week on MBC Posted: 24 Oct 2010 10:41 AM PDT My Happy Home, aka the “Korean Desperate Housewives,” is MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday show that premieres this week in the former Playful Kiss timeslot. The show stars Kim Hye-soo (Style) and Hwang Shin-hye (The Queen Returns) as leads and rivals. Kim’s character is kind and intelligent, although deep down she harbors the stirrings of “an instinct for hatred.” Hwang, on the other hand, sports an elegant outer appearance that covers an inferiority complex as the resident femme fatale harboring deep pain. Buckle up and get ready for the catfighting seems to be the message of the drama’s promotions. (...) © javabeans for Dramabeans, 2010. | Permalink | 15 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
